Ayatollah
Seyyed Hossein Kazemeini Boroujerdi
Apolitical and religious leader, popular and prominent cleric, anti
dictatorship leader,
Religious minorities and ethnic supporter, independent
intellectual,
Peace advertiser between different religions
followers,
Poor man consultant, liberal prisoner guide in Iran
Referring to the history, mixing religion with
politics means settling religious instruments for politicians` aims who execute
their despotism goals in the name of religious rules and suppress all demands,
critics and reforming ideas. In such countries, peace, equality and friendship
would not be set up and international peace would be in danger along with
increasing this kind of mentality, Iran's political clerics have demonstrated
the severest kind of religious colonialism; they believe in having the right of
people's soul, property, purity and destiny ownership as well as all national
resources and wealth. Liberal and intellectual efforts, inside and outside of Iran, have not
improved because of boycott and censorship news and also governmental Mullahs
misuses of people's religious believes and ideological sensitiveness. Ayatollah
Seyyed Hossein Kazemeini Boroujerdi is the only prominent cleric who after the
great shi'a religious leader, martyr grand Ayatollah Seyyed Kazem Sharia't
Madari, fought against religious despotism publicly and tried to bring about
peace between followers of different religions and reconcile different nations.
He believes in the separation of the religion from politics that will set up freedom,
peace, security and equality. His activities are peaceable; his believes and
instructions are not political but are just in the course of separating
religion from politics, rejecting any kind of violence and setting up peace and
calmness receiving great welcome by the people inside and outside of Iran. His
popularity along with public welcome led to be taken under boycott, bother and
rumors spread by Iranian governmental Mullahs against him.
Every kind of international support and help to
Ayatollah Kazemeini Boroujerdi is a useful step toward ending religious crimes
such as: violence, despotism, tortures, execution, prison, stoning, boycott,
discrimination, beliefs investigation, suppression, ethnic and religious
conflict.
Paret 1: A summary of his biography and highlights of his
career
1- He was born in 1958, on the first August (10 Mordad 1337). He learnt
the elementary lessons in Boroujerd city and complementary ones in Qum city under the training of deceased Ayatollah Seyyed
Shahab-e-ddin-e Mara'shi Najafi ( one of
the clerics against political religion) and almost 30 years ago Ayatollah
Boroujerdi was worn clerical clothes by him. Deceased Allameh Mara'shi Najafi
described Ayatollah Boroujerdi as: "Mr. Seyyed Hossein has enormous
intelligence, penetrating mind, strong memory and a fantastic personality. His
thoughtful genius, strong belief and well-behavior have been made him superior
between students of theological school."
2- Then he started to be a leader and evangelism. He learnt
complementary upper periods of religious studies Jurisprudence and etymology by
great clerics such as Ayatollah Sadegh Rouhani, Ayatollah Vahid Khorassani and
his father as well (Ayatollah Seyyed Mohammad Ali Kazemeini Boroujerdi).
3- Years before 1995(1374): he controlled Hemmat Abad Mosque in
Moniriye square in Tehran.
At that Mosque, he publicized God and Messengers and many people came there to
learn wisdom and knowledge. Public welcome to his independent activities and
speeches caused to complain governmental clerics and had been made a case for
Ayatollah in Special court for the clergy (SCC). At last he was kidnapped in
the street by Intelligence Service in June 1995(Tir 1374). He had been
transferred to Tohid prison and he stayed there for about one year. They put
him under different tortures. He has been confronted by heart and kidney
problems and still suffers from these illnesses. The Hemmat Abad Mosque had
been confiscated and got its control submitted to the governmental clerics.
4- From 1996 to 2001(1375-1379): after a while of his releasing and
physical recovery, with people's persistent, he again started his activities
from his individual house and after some years again he faced with repetitive
and unjustified cases. He had been summonsed to SCC several times, therefore he
was captured again on 15 January 2001(26 Dey 1379) and transferred to Evin
prison and endured so many horrible tortures in 59 and 209 grisly sections and
at last he had a heart attack. In summer 2001(1380) they delivered him to his family
in the way that he could not do his individual works and had been infected
various physical and mental diseased.
5- Years from 2002 to 2004 (1381-1383): some months after his
releasing, he again started his activities little by little references to his
house increased. He did not have permission to have any office or Mosque, so
profited by Noor Mosque in Khorassan square in Tehran that was under his
father's control and not only he had crowded Moslem prayers but also he held
religious sessions this time. Intelligence service had to kill his father for
his suppression. After killing his father he lost his situation in Noor Mosque
and compulsory held his sessions in his followers' houses. Again on 16 august
2004(26 Mordad 1383) he had been summonsed to SCC. After a short period
detention, he undertook not to have any activities such as public pray,
religious sessions and visiting people. He could just visit his family and
relatives and every time that he had another coming and going, he would soon
summonsed by SCC and speak about that! During the last detention Intelligence
service agents took some photos of his bare body and recorded films. "if
you start any kinds of activities, we will make obscene films for you, issue
that, announce you as malicious and hang you" they threatened him.
6- Years from 2004 to 2006 (1383-1385): there were many sorts of
pressures that it was not possible to be in connection with people. Little by
little, people could get in contact with Ayatollah's followers and some of his
known fond men could speak to him by the help of mobile phone. With improving
this method so many people could talk to him indirectly and with the help of
hundreds of his followers and improving phone connections, there was a great
connection between Ayatollah and people. So that in 2006 (1385) he held some
unique sessions. It was in the way that the address of each session proclaimed
just some days before the sessions but it informed by people very soon. In two
last sessions Intelligence service and security forces tried to make an
obstacle to holding sessions but mass of people prevented them. Especially in
the last session on 29 June 2006 (8 Tir 1385) there was not enough space for
all people in the biggest covered stadium and they were there so hardly. With
the confession of friend and enemy, more than one hundred thousand men without
advertising in mass media and in severe strangulation were at that session.
Immediately after that unique session, he had been summonsed to SCC but this
time he did not go to court and every day they phoned him that he must go to
the court. He knew, according to compulsory undertaking that he had to write
it, this time they would make unreal accusations and forged confessions for him
and at last kill him as they had threatened him for several times before.
"I do not go to the court, you come and kill me!" He just replied.
7- On 16 July 2006 (25 Tir 1385): some men who introduced themselves as
governmental representatives under the superintendence of a man named Sardar
Rezai (commander) came to Ayatollah's house for conversation. Sardar Rezai
said: "government concurs that you have been treated unjustly and there
are very bad unfriendly manners toward you. Your sessions are exceptional in Iran. We have
come to placate and notify government of its suggestion. If government expenses
ten milliard tumans, it will not able to gather people for religious ceremony
about one hundred thousand people just from two or three days before the day of
ceremony but you could do it without advertisement and also concealed.
Government has become ready to give you this huge sum of money and even put in
charge of Azadi stadium and guarantee your security. In return for that, you
should pray for high-ranking authorities of regime and also revolution leader
in your sessions and directly or indirectly confirm him. In addition you should
affix Mr. Khomeini and some more high-ranking men's photo in the site of your
session." Ayatollah Boroujerdi in reply said: "it is not possible for
me because I want to make a better connection between people from every
religion with every belief and God but your suggestion is a very big obstacle
toward this aim. I believe that mixing politics and religion is just an excuse
for giving credit to politicians which this is against of religious aims,
therefore I do not accept." When Sardar Rezai was leaving Ayatollah's
house gave him his phone number and warned him to think more in following days
and make them aware of his last decision.
8- On 30 July 2006 (8 Mordad 1385): when government became
sure that it would not buy Ayatollah Boroujerdi by money and rank and on the
other hand he would not surrender, tried to capture him before his following
session, so the next morning, governmental functionaries attacked to his house
and when they faced with his resistance of this irreconcilable cleric, they
broke door's locks and broke into his house. At first neighbors and then others
and Ayatollah's followers came there from different parts of Tehran, so aggressors ran away and this conspiracy
became neutralized. There were many people which Sardar Tlai, Tehran's previous police commander, came to
the scene. He promised to seek the case, after excuse. Ayatollah Boroujerdi at
the end of that involvement in a short speech said: "this morning there
was an attack to my house. It is strange that some bodies make accused the America and Israel to attack to shi'a men but
we who are the most famous shi'a men are under attack in shi'a capital city!
Now, when the country is under the danger of war, why they attack to my house!
I am anxious, these behaviors causes nation's anger and will fall into disorder
…"
After that day Ayatollah's neighbors and fond men were watchful to
Ayatollah's house and alley by turns night and day. Everyday many people came
to visit him from Tehran and different parts of Iran that their
numbers increased escalating. These conditions lasted 70 days.
9- On 5 September 2006 (14 Shahrivar 1385): in the evening one
governmental cleric named Sheik Ahmadi with the title of revolution leader's
representative came to Ayatollah's house with previous coordinating to solve
friendly existent crisis, so-called. At first he tried to delude Ayatollah with
some tricks to take him to SCC but Ayatollah said: "I have been summonsed
several times there; they made me in prison. I had to write undertaking under
tortures. This time it will be more horrible than before certainly. Thus why I
go there when I know you want to condemn and exterminate me by ten parts of
accusations. If you tell true that you are fair, you will prepare a debate
between me and clerics who believe in "Velayate Faqih" (Rule of the
Jurist) to become distinct the reality for people. This reasoning of Ayatollah
caused to get angry of that representative of Mr. Khamenei, therefore he
declared: "government with the help of Mobilization (Basij), guards corps
(Sepah), Intelligence Service, Security forces, Law Enforcement Force (LEF,
Iran's police) and leader's forces (pressure groups) will be able to oppress
every resistance, so you must surrender or we do toward you as we did toward grand Ayatollah Mr. Seyyed Kazem Sharia't Madari, crusaders, …! Even if
it is necessary we will crack down on you and all men who are with you."
Exactions and proudly behavior of Sheik Ahmadi caused great anger of Ayatollah
Boroujerdi and in addition of this one hour conversation, Ayatollah described
his reasons to resist against of government exactions. This phonic recorded
conversation reflected in all over the world with ambition of Dr. Alireza Nouri
Zade from London.
Ayatollah Boroujerdi after this conversation had a short speech for his
followers and said: "this cleric (Sheik Ahmadi) had come to take me to the
court, I have gone there many times and they made me under different tortures.
I do not go there any more. Our courts are history, tiered hearts and awake
consciences. I will not compromise with a dictator, who is religion claimant,
as my ancestor, Imam Hossein, who did not promise loyalty to Yazid. This man
(Sheik Ahmadi) has brought my killing order and also killing everyone who comes
here, therefore everybody who comes here should be ready to give up his/her
live, we die for being real Koran, we die for being apolitical and true
Islam." Sheik Ahmadi's boastings was also with undesired confessions that
showed government despotic nature.
From tomorrow of that day, they started to arrest Ayatollah's familiars
from his neighborhood and in continuation they attacked to his familiar's
houses at midnights and by breaking doors, making noises and spreading rumors
(that we have come to arrest smugglers or thieves) tried to tell this massage
to other followers that: "if you do not stop supporting Ayatollah, you
will have also destiny as arrested men."
10- On 5 October 2006 (13 Mehr 1385): At midnight, LEF surrounded
region. Electricity and phone system were cut simultaneous. Their aim was
attack to arrest .Ayatollah Boroujerdi had a short speech that it was broadcast
in international media. Some parts of that is so: "Dear neighborhoods
inhabitants; now they have closed all open ways to our alley for attacking to
us. Know that our sin is to be against of political religion; we do not want to
treat people cruelly; we do not want to destroy Iran nation under the title of
Islam. Tonight they have come to kill us; I have come to the middle of street;
I am ready to be killed to teach people resistance and self-sacrifice.
respected neighbors, I do not want you help; just be witnesses; when they kill
us, you tell to the history that they (who speak about Islam, Koran and God)
treated us as they did; you are witnesses who see that we just serve to people
in this site; people come from far and near cities and we are kind to them.
Witness Boroujerdi for defending Koran, religion, God, homeland and his
compatriots offered his body to bullets."
11- On 7 October 2006(15 Mehr 1385): in the morning; LEF, Special Unit,
Contrary revolt, Forces of Security, Mobilization (Basij), Pressure Groups and
private military uniform surrounded religion as Sheik Ahmadi had warned formerly
and they warned by loudspeaker
constantly that: "You, all, surrender or will be killed." They
tried to make people give up by shot fired into the air, using different kinds
of poison and tear gas and also showing different cars and horrible equipment
but people did not surrender. Eventually at that midnight order of the last
attack was issued and they cracked down on all people so wildly, hundreds of
people were arrested who most of them were wounded by a bullet or were kicked
by boot or were hit with a Billy club. Many people in emergency states were
taken to hospitals….
During this resistance, although the way of running away of danger was
ready for Ayatollah Boroujerdi, he stayed between his followers and in a short
speech with handy loudspeaker, opposing aggressors, made them and all regime
attendants addressee and said: "o' aggressors! If you have power, so go
and uproot addiction, poverty, prostitution and discrimination. Why are you
strict to peasant? Why do you show your claws to the nation? It was the nation
that gave you lordship, it was the nation that gave you regard, you were in the
lowest rank, and it was these men who brought you to this level. Is their
reward attacking to them? If you use all these forces that now have bought to
arrest us use correctly, there will not be an addicted and a poor hungry man in
Iran.
Do you want to kill me? Will all your problems solve by killing me? Is your
continuity ensured? You have made this nation vagabond and helpless. These
people live on multitude resources of petrol, gas, gold and uranium. Why are
they poor? It is because you brought your management for oppression everyone
such as me. It is me and it is you. Kill me but history will judge about you so
bad. Now all over the world has known this your today action toward me. All
international mass Media to get this news have announced extraordinary
situation. You, who order domestic newspapers not to reflect main things, have
said your elements to announce that I have said I am the Twelfth Imam, Mahdi. What
do you do with history? What do you do with reality? Now, the world has known
that my problem with you is just religion. I speak about traditional religion,
you speak about political religion. The nation does not want political
religion; the nation has been tired of political religion."
Many reports were reflected and broadcast in news and internet sites
and also many films and photos of these last 70 days, especially attack's day
and night, were reflected in all over the world which does not fit in this
brief.
On 7 October 2006, Ayatollah Boroujerdi by laud speaker
turned his face toward invading forces and their leaders, commanders and other
political religion regime responsible:
“Iran
nation wants to worship God freely.
What is our expectation? We do not follow parliament or
ministry seats.
We want to worship God as our fathers worshiped.
It is 70 days that kidnapping rage, here.
They kidnap people and take them to the section of 209
Evin prison and torture them.
O’invador men, if you have power, so uproot addiction,
poverty, discrimination and war.
Why do you show your power to people?
This nation has given honor, lordship and strength to
you.
O’rulers, you were in the lowest station. People promoted
you in this one.
Are these attacks and violence the repayment of their
kindness and services?
You do terrorist cal and harsh actions in Ramadan!
You kidnap fasting people from their houses!
Do not you fear God?! You show your strength to peasants!
If you use correctly all these forces which you have brought
here, we will not find an addicted or hungry one.
Do you want to kill me? Will your problems be solved by
killing me?!
You have made Iran nation poor, involved and
wandering!
Why should these people who live on huge resources of
petrol, gas and uranium, be poor?!
It is because you use your management to oppress men as
me!
This is me and that are you! Kill me! But history will
judge so badly about you.
Now, with this your today attacks, the world has known
that you have problem with me.
International Media have announced an extraordinary case
to reflect the news of this your attack.
You order your newspapers to not print news about me.
You order your forces to spread rumors that I have
claimed I am the Twelfth Imam!
What do you do with history? The world has known that
your problem with me is just on religion and belief.
I am against of political religion.
Nation does not want political religion, as well and has
tired of it.”
12- From 8 October 2006 to 10 June 2007 (16 Mehr 1385- 20 Khordad
1386): during these months Ayatollah Boroujerdi was in solitary confinement in
209 section of Evin prison under different kinds of tortures and cruelly
interrogations. Hundreds of these case arrestees, in different sections, also
were under tortures. They tortured Ayatollah's wife, children and mother in
front of his eyes. On 14 February 2007 (25 Bahman 1385) Ayatollah's mother
passed a' way under treatment in hospital. Ayatollah's all properties and house
were confiscated, his family became homeless and spread hundreds rumors against
of them. Many declarations were issued from human rights institutions,
philanthropist, national and religious groups and parties. All of them wanted
unconditional releasing Ayatollah. With the aim of support and sympathy, many
analytic programs and hundreds news headlines in Radios and TVs and mass Media,
out of Iran,
were broadcast about linked happenings and Ayatollah's beliefs and views.
During this time, Ayatollah caught different diseases such as Parkinson,
diabetes, nervous, cerebral and respirator diseases and was hospitalized
several times….
13- On 10 June 2007 (20 Khordad 1386): after nine months, on this day
the first court session for Ayatollah and many other accuseds was held. Public
prosecutor, Mr. Ghadyani, requested execution for the first seventeen accuseds
in his indictment. Immediately, with spreading this news, all human rights
institutions and hundreds of news sites in internet and different Radio and TV
channels declared their protests. There was formed a very bad situation for
regime. Some days later, in the next court session, they cut sentences to just
seven men and so execution sentences were cancelled by international severe
pressures. According to Ayatollah's family's request, Mrs. Shirin Ebadi (awarded Nobel peace prize in
2003), Dr. Seif Zadeh, Mr. Ne'mat Ahmadi
and Mr. Jalil Bahramiyan (international lawyer), who are Iran's propounded
lawyers, accepted to practice law for Ayatollah's case but they were not
admitted by SCC.
14- After mentioned events and also conviction of crimes toward
Ayatollah Boroujerdi by government in news and international judicial
conferences, they defamed Iran's
religious despotism. In Iran,
governmental newspaper and internet sites manipulated against of Ayatollah and
they showed his artificial confessions in channel 1, channel 2 and channel 6 of
Iran's
Radio and Television organization which democratic institutions and liberal men
condemned this action in different declarations. A part of one of those
declarations is so: they tried to show Ayatollah Boroujerdi as a cheater, spy
and illiterate cleric in his confessions film but how a person is cheater and
his complainers are just Intelligence service and SCC during these fifteen
years. Someone, who came with two proofs of pen and statement, could not be
illiterate and in fact common person could not be the leader of commoner.
Anyway, these tricks were to invalidate his opinions and beliefs and to escape
from preparing a debate between governmental religious leaders and Ayatollah.
15- Ayatollah Boroujerdi's campaign has been under attention of
international analysts and many ideas about this issue are in newspaper, Radio
and Televisions especially in Persian channels in all over the world. Even
prominent international men have praised him as prominent shi'a cleric who has
resisted against of religious despotism that one of the main important of them
was President George W Bush who in his speech in Washington Islamic centre protected him. His
speech had wide repercussions in newspapers, America's news Media and Islamic
countries.
Part 2: Important points of Ayatollah's life, activities
and instruction
1- Ayatollah's session's subject: during his fifteen years of
activities, he held hundreds circles. His sessions were actually in two parts:
at first teaching religious, moral, spiritual cultures and wisdom and
prescribing from Moses, Christ, Mohammad, Zoroaster and great philosophers'
teachings to prepare a better life, popularization of peace, calmness and
peacefulness. In the second part of his sessions he held also religious worship
service which was a calmness and mitigation for trapped people and in people's
opinion, very positive energies inflicted to their souls and physics which made
life in a better hope and motivation manner. At the end of each session he
prayed for releasing prisoners, ill people remedy, end of war in the world,
establishment of peace and calmness in all over the world, Iran's fixity of
security, and preservation of country's frontiers from dangers and bliss of all
his compatriots.
2- In sessions, he advised various classes of society to avoid taking
revenge, rage, involvement, envy, others ridicule, wickedness, pessimism,
scurrilousness,… main part of his teaching was to make general forgiveness,
greatness, friendship, peace and calmness, simple living and respect to
people's rights.
3- He always emphasizes to treat parents respectfully and
responsibility feeling toward family and children.
4- He was encumbered people by problems counselor and, in some periods when
it was possible to visit him for people, ever many people made haste to visit
him and use his guidance and leadings.
5- A main part of his exponents were young people and he believes that
advising young people would be very useful for following generations.
6- He not only did not refuse people who had moral crisis but he also
followed to help and guide them.
7- He is against of violent behaviors and domineers; he recommends
promoting educative corrective methods.
8- He not only did not see people who were encumbered by immoral and
abnormal behaviors as criminals and offenders but he also knew that there were
other reasons such as deviation of dignitaries of country.
9- Maybe trust to this point is difficult but many poor people who
wanted to commit suicide (because of poverty), when they found his address they
changed their minds and became hopeful to future.
10- From early morning to the late night, freely, was answering to his
applicants. In the last year, when his activities increased, many his followers
answered to people's demands to help Ayatollah by their phone lines and mobile
phones.
11- He never changed the state of helping people with money and rank.
He knew this deal as transaction of religion and intellectuality.
12- He controlled many charities in Iran and gave money to many
orphans. His method was to introduce poor people to charitable, wealthy men
that without mediator, the action of aid would be done. He said: "many
proofs show that many conferences and Mullahs who know themselves as
responsible of charities misuse and abuse properties", so he did the method that mentioned.
13- He has put plain and simple living the title of his life. He lived
in a house in the centre of Tehran in the first floor of a four floor building.
He used its yard as a place for answering his applicants.
14- Contrary to Iran's governor Mullahs, he lives very plainly. During
his all years of activities he was deprived of all kinds of governmental
support. He was under a real news boycott. Each time that Intelligence service
turned upside down his house, they could not find anything except a common
house and middling equipment. Since 1995(1374) his case has opened in the
second branch of SCC in Zafaranieh street and there is not any crimes that
could be attributed to him to issue a command.
15- He always disagreed with activities for Mobilization (Basij) and
pressure groups and also being political activities in Mosques and other places
of worship. He also prevented men from doing these kinds of activities. Some
parts of regime's enmity with him are so.
16- Contrary to Iran's governors Mullahs, he is not two-faced and
hypocrite. Not only in appearance but also in inner nature he observes to moral
affairs and recommends all people to respect moral affairs, too.
17- Contrary to Iran's governor Mullahs, he did not drive youngsters
away who had moral and educative problems but acted for their correction.
18- Contrary to Iran's governor Mullahs who accuse open-minded men and
masterminds people to westernization, he had very close relations with this
class. Contrary to Iran's governor Mullahs who have problems with masterminds
and genius talents that are the reasons for their running away of country, he
valued and respected to them very much. He believes that the lack of
masterminds and open-minded men has been caused scientific and cultural poverty
in Iran.
19- Contrary to Iran's governor Mullahs who think helping to Lebanon,
Palestine, Afghanistan and Iraq fighters is their duty; he complained several
times that this regime's action was not crossing humanitarian way but it was
political path and harmful to everybody. He presented various reasons.
20- Contrary to most of Iran's clerics, he respects for all religions
and also knows the right of them respectful. He was truthful in what he said so
much that many his exponents were from minority religions who participated in
his sessions. It is interesting that when believers of minority religions came
to visit him, Ayatollah gave them some prescriptions related to guidance of the
holy book and even when some prejudiced men who protested to this his behavior,
he said to them: "there is not a main difference between religions.
Changing in teaching of religions to involvement and unpleasantness is against
of Messengers aims and is the cause of mankind shyness."
21- Contrary to Iran's governor Mullahs who want to issue the
revolution and with this aim they have brought the world to crisis, he
disagreed with imposition of beliefs and said that God has set for all nations
a way to salvation.
22- He visited ill people and helped them.
23- In return for teaching and consultation with others, he did not
expect anything.
24- Contrary to Iran's governor Mullahs who follow religious affairs as
financial resources, he was so against of earning money from religious affairs.
25- He disagreed that people gage alms and pledges to the sources of
authority and said that the aim of this religious tradition is to help poor
people and improve public facility and not become richer somebody who have wore
religion cloth.
26- Contrary to Iran's governor Mullahs who encourage people to give
their pledges to shrines, he believes the pledges should be given to poor men.
27- He disagrees with totalitarianism severely in the manner that he
illegitimates using the term of "Imam" and "the world Moslems
principal" for establisher of revolution and his replacement.
28- Contrary to Iran's governor Mullahs who expense a lot of money for
their advertisements, he did not have any advertisement.
29- Contrary to Iran's governor Mullahs who say that children in
families must do religious affairs imposition, he knows this method so cruelly
and illegitimate.
30- He knows using facilities and divine blessing all people's right
even if he/she does not believe in religion." Religion is an individual
affair for improving spirituality in people not for making discrimination"
he said.
Some parts of his short words, analyzing and traditions about PEACE:
1- We should be patient, flexible and critic able to repel social
scourge and set up public peace.
2- Occupants of peace and equality region are men who have washed their
bodies from selfishness, self-absorption and self-centeredness in stream of
humanism and tenderness.
3- Peace and pacifism are long investments that following generations
will use its public benefits.
4- Peace and friendship will not be set up without mutual respect.
5- One of the aspects of peace is revisions. Peace flag will be
fluttered in a land where masses of people follow revisions in their individual
and social life.
6- One of peace supplies in the world is government's justice. Justice
of powers is more important than spring rain freshness. Best thing which
guarantees survival governments is justice and equality.
7- Peace, quietness and success are impossible for people who their
leaders are involved in discrimination, betrayal and oppression.
8- The most effective way to create peace is generosity and
forgiveness.
9- Peace and pacifism are guarantees for survival of Adam and Eve's
generation.
10- The real believer is someone who brings about peace and
reconciliation between others.
11- Prophets were reformers of their ages and their most important wish
had been peace between human.
12- Society that its inner patterns are righteous men is competent
enough to be a role model for the present and following societies.
13- If someone replaces anger, aversion and hostility with peace and
quietness, he/she will reform body and soul from his/her inner self and honor
and validity from his/her exterior.
14- He knows peace stand in human life importantly. "The
philosophy of prophets' evangelism was just for peace and equality. Best reason
for proof of pacifism in prophets' tradition is that any prophet did not
disagree with another prophet but confirmed previous prophet and brought glad
tidings to people coming following prophet, so it is proper that believers of
prophets, who form various populations in the world, follow their prophets and
replace hostility and dogmatism with peace and friendship'' he said.
15- his constantly massages were peace, forgiveness and humanism. When
families that were on the threshold of break up, visited him or took part in
his sessions, they would reach to peace, pacifism and better conditions in their
lives.
16- He believes that for bringing international peace we should put
away different dogmatisms and said: "God has put a clear way to guide all
people. Nobody should impose his/her religion on others."
17- He was very attractive, lenient and peace-loving, quoted from some
of his familiars; some related elements to government, who had made different
annoyances for him, came to him and expressed their regret and confessed to
their activity and government's offenses. Some of them were pulled so much that
they came to his sessions with their families several times. It had been
another reason to Intelligence service anxiety.
18- Contrary to Iran's governor Mullahs, he is prone to peace and
pacifism, he does not ask violence and he never spreads rumors against of his
ill-wishers but he goes with reason and logic. Even to the last days before
detention he requested to have a televised debate with political Islamic
leaders.
19- Contrary to Iran's governor Mullahs who are anti-Jewish in unclear
reasons, he respects Jewish people very much and recognizes them officially.
Some of his neighbors who were captured with him also were Jewish.
20- He knows injustice, discrimination and classification of different
parts of society to different ranks the reasons of war, involvement and quarrel
which destroy peace and pacifism.
21- He invited all different ranks of society to justice, equality and
abstinence of dogmatism, discrimination and violence. Even several times wrote
letters to governmental top-level responsible and also he warned them. With
reference to certain proofs; for instance the gist of his letters to Mr. Ali
Khamenei, Mr. Akbar Hashemi Rafsanjani, Mr. Mohammad Khatami (previous Iran's
president), Mr. Hashemi Shahroudi (judiciary branch principle) is so:
"اَلملكُ يَبقي مَعَ الكفر وَ لا
يَبقي مَعَ الظُلم " : "Government would continue without religion but would not
continue with cruelty." As you know; government fixity depends on justice.
The main reason of fragmentation of the Soviet Empire (east world power), that
was NATO's fear cause was its responsible injury. History has always deathless
reports of "Bani Omayye" and "Bani Abbas" despotism which
were claimer of religious government. Unfortunately some of regime obstinate
factors and responsible injury, who are as religion symbols in people's eyes,
has caused destroying religion, conscience and spirituality in society. It is
an alarm for awake human.
Also in this letters, he has declared intellectual
independence and not being interested in involving religion with politics as
his sins which then Intelligence service and SCC agents changed them with
unreal accusations.
22- He knows publicity, cultural affairs and
illucidation best ways in every action and made distant people from involvement
and violence, thus he used peaceful ways, for instance to tell all the world
that people are embattled he held huge gatherings for praying for afflicted
people by problems or to tell that people are tired of political religion and
they want traditional religion he held religious apolitical huge ceremonies. In
the last days before his detention, two weeks before Eyd-e Fetr (one of the
main religious feasts that is held in a very huge religious gathering) in an
interview with Radio" The Voice of Iran" he declared that he wanted
to hold Eyd-e Fetr pray in Azadi street in Tehran and invited people who were
interested in traditional religion and political religion opponents. With
notice that contrary to before, Medias out of Iran had made a news support for
him it was expected to be this unique gathering with the presence of million
men and massage of peaceful negation of religious government that certainly the
main cause of haste in wildly attack to him was prevention of holding such
gathering.
23- He knows respect to other religion's believers
the essential thing to reach international peace. He did special affairs to
make general this way, for instance he congratulated other religion believers
on their important feasts. This is Ayatollah's congratulation to Christians on the
threshold of 2003:
"Two thousands and three hello to Jesus, a
great character who did not flagged for a minute in his comprehensive prophetic
mission, The leader who either his birth or living were distinct from other his
human kind. He epitomized heavenly powers on the earth and spent his lifetime
in traveling. He searched miserable people to rescue them, city to city. When
he went to a residential region he asked about hopeless and ill people. He went
to ruins to find unfortunate leprous people to cure them. He was constructive
teacher, life saver and a global medic who taught generations and all human to
be beyond and put a holly, forever and blissful heritage in humankind history.
Part 3: A summary of his interviews
During long years of his activities, he was under
a complete news boycott and could not take part in interviews with internal and
external Medias but during September and October 2006 (Shahrivar and Mehr 1385)
many Radios, Televisions, Newspapers, Party's representatives and different
groups interviewed him about his opinions and activities several times such as
The Voice of America, Farda Radio, Deutsche Welle, SBS, Channel One, Pars TV,
Mehr TV, BBC, Multi Kulti Radio, Sweden Radio, France Radio, Kayhan London ,and
also many journalists, free reporters, party's representatives interviewed him
that had outspread reflections. Some questions were repetitive or
complementary; therefore we mention them as a brief list:
1- Question: Why do you think that religion should
be separated from politics?
Ayatollah's reply: History has shown that by using
lever of religion in many religious governments it prepares governmental aims,
not helping to people's mental and ideological development, so we should
separate this tool from politician's hands to prepare justice, peace and
equality. Every kind of despotism further with a kind of excuse that the worst
one is the excuse of religion and holy affairs which has been prepared their
survival conditions because of general public's financial faith.
2- Question: What is your opinion about
suppression of different parts of people in society?
Ayatollah's reply: I believe that if a government
suppresses people, it will not be possible to call it as "Republic".
Especially it will be impossible to call "Islamic" when government
suppresses people by religious excuses. I complain about using the term of
"Islamic Republic". I have declared my complaints about suppression
of my compatriots in letters to world religious men.
3- Question: What is your opinion about equality
of men and women rights?
Ayatollah's reply: Those parts which are connected
to Islamic judgments are that connected to deducing facts from Koran and
hadees, it means that these would change in different ages and places
conditions but if religion separates from politics these problems will be
solved from higher horizon.
4- Question: In an interview you said that you try
to survive religion and God reputation. Are people more important or God?
Ayatollah's reply: The reality is that when the
case of God and men who are claimers of being God's representatives on the
earth is in just one place in people's opinion, so the result will be such as
we see. They commit crimes and pretend as the order of their crimes are issued
by God and prophets and people should not protest about them, therefore this
crisis causes to separate society from God who invites always to peace and
justice. Of course, religious dictators have another interpretation about God.
They want to have the excuse to suppress all aversions.
5- Queation: What is your motive in various
evangelism of prophet's teaching in this technology age? Do you know society's
problems just in the lack of spirituality?
Ayatollah's reply: In my belief, at first we
should reform ourselves for universal and social reforms. Although there are
many difficulties to hold my sessions, I endure these excruciating adversities.
The reason is that I could invite addressees to perform corrective teachings.
Spirituality is not final aim; the aim is perfection and bliss. Promotion of
spirituality makes this path level. Prophet's path is the acquisition of
learning and wisdom. There is no conflict between science and spirituality but
both of them, together, guarantee human felicity. If just the science is count,
it will be such as a lab Tory to make narcotics and discover atomic and
chemical bombs. If also spirituality, conscience and morality are count the
life will hampered and mankind's perfection will not be possible.
6- Question: What is your idea about Pope Opinion which
is under discussion about Islam and Mohammad son of Abdullah?
Ayatollah's reply: God has given freedom of speech
to mankind for expressing his/her thoughts and opinions but some people's
actions such as "Bani Omayye", "Bani Abbas", The
"Ottoman Empire", Osama Bin Laden, Taliban, Intelligence service have
caused to appear negative mentalities to Islam. Unless religion does not
separate from politics, there will be such challenges.
7- Question: If you know "religious
government" as illegitimate government, what will you recommend to people?
Ayatollah's reply: From many years ago, when
someone asked that how he/she could show his/her complaint to regime's
responsible, we (my father and I) advised he/she to act in peaceful methods,
for instance not to take part in demonstrations and elections. Not to go to
religious centers connected to religious government such as Friday prayers,
delegations and Mosques controlled by government. By this easy method, people
could show their hatred and make all over the world inform of it. I think this
method has affected its effects and should wait to get international helps for
establishment of democracy in Iran.
8- Question: You held praying ceremony for
quieting painful people in your sessions; of course your sessions have been
closed by government. Is praying the logic and root way to solve problems in
society?
Ayatollah's reply: No, it is not. Praying and
appeal are hopeful and calming. Real solution is something else but believe me
that I get thousands letters daily; telephonic, face-to-face, correspondence or
with arbitrator of my followers. My understanding is that I have many
miserable, invalid and afflicted compatriots who could not show their
complaints because of boycott and oppression, therefore I had praying ceremony
in a level by my speeches that now they have closed my sessions by threat of
execution by a firing squad. I did not have any forums or tribunes to tell all
the world Iranian people's critical conditions directly, thus I did my duty in
this way indirectly at least. It was my goal. The world should ask Iran's
regime representatives this question: "it is 28 years that you have sat on
huge resources of petrol, gas and mines; so what are these mass of miserable
people?! Notice that I named my last session "pray in the sea of involved
men". Its meaning is that in Iran a very large sea of miserable and poor
people live. They closed my sessions and encircled me because they know if I am
free and have permission to invite people to religion, I will gather all
involved men, it means the majority of nation masses, so the world would know
expanse of suffer, misery and trouble in Iran, therefore they did to me so.
9- Question: What is your idea about
"Velayat-e Faqih"?
Ayatollah's reply: Dignitaries such as Ayatollah
Khui and Ayatollah Sharia't Madari knew 'Velayat-e Faqih' as polytheism. My
father also said: "just colonialists know themselves person of authority
of people's wealth, life and purity." He named "Velayat-e
Faqih"(rule of the Islamic Jurist) as" religious colonialism". I
am also their follower and know it "religious dictatorship" because
God has respected human freedom right and does not like that somebody know
himself/herself people's guardian.
10- a) Question: what is your opinion about
stoning, execution, cutting organs, lash and prison?
Ayatollah's reply: Sin is between God and human.
Nobody has rights to punish another one because of committing a crime or sin.
b) Question: what about political crimes?
Ayatollah's reply: I name political crimes as
ideological crimes. According to logic, telling ideas will not be sin or crime
that would be chargeable as a punishment.
c) Question: Do your opinion disagree with Koran
and religious laws?
Ayatollah's reply: No, they do not. Either with
reference to canceller and obsolete or penal judgment is practicable just by
God formal representatives and often they prepare escape opportunities to
accused person. Some of other orders are so; anyway this topic is a
professional discussion which needs independent program to quibble affairs.
11- Question: you have declared that there are
many corruptions in Iran. What do you recognize the main reason of moral
corruptions in Iran's society?
Ayatollah's reply: Its main root should track on
savant prescriptions who believed that common corruptions in nation's grandees
would infect the whole society and spread between them, thus should not know
just people blamable or guilty.
12- Question: Most of the Iranian clerics do not
accept human rights international declarations and know United Nations as
plaything. What is your idea?
Ayatollah's reply: I think this accusation is more
focused on individuals who believe in 'Velayat-e Faqih' and not all of the
clerics but I believe that human rights international declarations have high
ranks in support of involved human condition in societies which are not at
liberty, so international institutions should manage and oversee to respect
human rights rules in these countries.
13- Question: Are there other clerics and guides
who think as you?
Ayatollah's reply: Yes, there are. During recent
years, always, Ayatollah Hassan Qumi, Ayatollah Sadegh Rouhani and Ayatollah
Vahid Khorassani showed their gratitude and they honored my efforts and tries
by different massages but news boycott is always a big obstacle to spread news
and real ideas.
14- Question: It is for a while that you have
surrounded in your house with your followers. Do you want to rise up against
government?
Ayatollah's reply: No, I do not. I am 28th
son of the third shi'a Imam, Imam Hossein son of Imam Ali, pursuant his way. I
am not following money, rank and government and disagree with harsh and
violent. The lack of my cooperation with government and also various people
welcome to my independent activities caused that they accused me as some one
who wants governmental ranks and also participant in a coup d'etat. Now I want
UN to prepare condition to issue a resolution for freedom of religion and in
this condition I would be able to spread my compatriot's massages in very huge
masses of people in my sessions.
15- Question: What kind of governmental and
constitutional law do you agree?
Ayatollah's reply: People should elect the sort of
government, we just want to separate religious from government because
experiments have shown that religious government had been politician's
government on people which be done with the cover of religion.
16- Question: You said to Sheik Ahmadi in your
conversation that Iranian people are tired of political religion. My question
is that still many people take part in elections and demonstrations. What
should we do?
Ayatollah's reply: Yes, this very important
dilemma has made everyone astounded that how people are against of government
and with all these pressures do not do anything but some of them work and
coordinate regime. I think it is because of governmental cleric's awareness of
people's sensitivity toward religious beliefs, so they try to misuse their
religious beliefs so cruelly. They pretend in a way that all people out of Iran
want to prepare their beliefs extinction, of course it is also a kind of
falsehood and colonization. Real Islam and politic Islam should be described
for naive believers so that they would become enlightened from neglect.
Somebody is blamable who instead of fighting with claimers of religion has
targeted basis of religion that has caused mass of people's pessimism to the
whole opposing motion out of Iran.
17- Question: These days there are many struggles
to find the real blamable of lasting war between Iran and Iraq 8 years. What is
your opinion?
Ayatollah's reply: The case of "2+6"
should be assessed from different points. The most important point is martyrs
blood. Nowadays struggles show that all those promotion in show of lasting the
war sacred were wrong. It means infinite blood, soul; wealth and purity were
wrongly trodden underfoot by misleading of leaders. I think a committee should
be formed to investigate this issue, so its considerations should be tried in a
court because of military crime.
18- Question: What is your opinion about deletion
Iran's "national and ancient ceremonies" and replacement with
religious ceremonies that nowadays is under discussion?
Ayatollah's reply: The eighth Imam, Ali son of
Moses, said to Ma'mon-e Abbasi who knew himself Moslems guardian: "you do
not have right to prepare problem in Iranian ceremony of Norooz because "ألإسلامُ يُحِبُ
ما قَبلَه " Real Islam
honor nation's traditions", and clerics who disagree with it are heretic.
19- Question: You complained in your conversation
with Sheik Ahmadi that Iran tries to blame America and Israel for all problems.
Do you have more explanation?
Ayatollah's reply: It should be
considered that if these are America and Israel that trade and issue narcotic
substances in Iran! Do torturers of hidden and apparent prisons who do not have
pitty even on breast-feeding and ten year old children are from America and
Israel?! Do judges of Iran courts are those countries citizens?! Do unable
managers have come from those countries?! Have they caused that Iranian people
escape from their father's religion in groups?! Do they do all these overhearing,
inspection, boycott, censorship and suppression of different classes of Iranian
people?! "Saeed Imami" was serial homicides administrator and killing
hundreds of people element and also bombed Imam Reza's shrine and killed
innocent pilgrims. Was his order from Israel?! Were his associates American?!
Had been
promises given at the beginning of revolution (being free of charge of
electricity, water, gas…) by these countries leaders to Iranian people?! Are
all these involvement, corruption, prostitution, bribery, homicide, murder,
violence, cruelty, swindling, prison, burglary, divorcement, inflation, nervous
diseases… project of America and Israel?!
20-
Question: What is your idea about nuclear crisis between Iran and international
society?
Ayatollah's reply: Nuclear energy could be useful for
every country. I do not attend to the political aspects of this matter because
is beyond the pale of my activities. But I think it is appropriate standard for
every project evaluation that the expenses which pay to get it are logical and
thrifty or not.
21- Question: You have mentioned your compatriot's
poverty and misery in your sessions and also interviews several times. What do
you know the reason of being so much involved people?
Ayatollah's reply: It is an important question because
economical problems are the most apparent crisis of Iranian people and has
caused noticeable increasing in crime, burglary, swindling, prostitution,
prison, addiction and divorcement. According to well-documented statistics, many
classes of Iranian people live under the standard line of poverty. One of tens
of reasons for this crisis is the lack of consideration in priorities. All
prophets invited people to pious acts but they said: "at first every one
is responsible toward him/her and his/her family, then toward his/her relatives
and familiars and then toward his/her neighbor. Then his/her citizen and
compatriot and at last toward homogeneous from every country." Our
government has forgotten this priority, thus they help very much in financial
and martial affairs to Lebanon, Palestine, Iraq and other countries whereas
this ill-gotten and illogical method neither has prepared peace, equality and
security for people of those countries nor has brought welfare and blessing for
our people. I do not attend to its political affairs but I am so sorry for
increasing problems, poverty and sedition and not concerning priorities.
22- Question: Some of your interviews were with known
individuals and political mass Media out of Iran that so far no liberal cleric
has done so. What is your aim of doing such action that certainly will have
some dangers for you?
Ayatollah's reply: As you know, I am not a political
cleric and do not interfered in governmental affairs. Unfortunately
suppressions and violence which have done under the name and title of religion
have caused pessimism in every body toward religion and also unfortunately most
political and liberal men out of Iran know religion as the main blamable thing
and instead of revelation against of betrayal elements have started to blame
religion and holy things. I want with speaking to them say that actions of
religion claimers should not be on account of religion and I hope my tries are
useful and those liberal and intellectual men, who know God and prophets
blamably in disasters, reconsider their beliefs. Those who do not know me
should know that I am twenty-eighth son of Imam Hossein and suffered so from
claimers of his blood feud. They killed my father and now I am in encirclement
and threat of attack. If I compromise with them, they will give me money and
rank but for respect of God, prophets, nation and my country I prefer death
with dignity instead of living with abjection. I am ready to be killed.
Part 4: Analysis of some parts of Ayatollah
Boroujrerdi's resistance against of religious despotism
1- If he was
following personal aims or material benefits or fame, he would not chose
certainly the way which would end up in deathful coming face to face with
government. He bought all different sorts of disasters to liberate conscience,
religion and mankind from Iran's governor Mullahs monopoly, thus he should be
supported.
2- Another important critic in a part of his
article named "conflict or agreement with Iran government behind of Boroujerd's
curtain!" has said: if Boroujerdi thought such as other governor Mullahs
in Iran, he would not certainly get involved in this challenge with them. As
proofs show many huge offers were suggested to him that instead of cooperation
with regime he would reach to rank and huge wealth but disagreement with
government is explanatory of one hundred percent conflict, anyway, fight method
and resistance of Kazemeini Boroujerdi and agreement of public thoughts have
made him the leader of separation religion and politics and Iran government
does not have any way unless not bothering him,… it is impossible to compare
him with Mr. Khatami, previous Iran's president, because Khatami followed
through frame of Islamic Republic of Iran and believed in 'Velayat-e Fqih', following
revolution establisher aims and obeying Khamenei's orders from behind the
curtain but Boroujerdi's motion is in conflict with all these cases.
3- Could we name him another Khomeini?! Mr.
Khomeini was artificer and leader of religious government who from the
beginning of his motion his aim was it. Even he did not refuse to deceive
public thoughts by mock pledges. He took advantage of religion as an instrument
as he could but Boroujrdi thinks and speaks exactly against of him. He says
religion from politics and government should be separated. He hates scam and
lying with the title of religion. Best thing which could say is that Khomeini
enforced abnormal produce with the name of' Velayat-e Faqih' to Iranian people
and Boroujerdi is a religious leader who tries to end up it.
4- Although Ayatollah Boroujerdi is a cleric and
lives in oppression area of "Islamic Republic" why has he got
international trust and popularity? It is because of four reasons:
a) Legitimacy, trust and resistance on his beliefs.
b) Welcoming different classes of people
c) Supporting by liberal men and democracy lovers
out of Iran. They find him as a cleric who his statements are conforming to his
actions.
D) Various activities, devotion of his family,
intimates men, neighbors, assistants men who did not leave him alone in the
most difficult condition and also now glorify his beliefs.
5- Although there are other clerics who think as
Ayatollah Boroujerdi, they are not known. What is the reason of his outstanding
in disagreement with political religion and Velayat-e Faqih? He announced his
disagreement with Velayat-e Faqih and clearly named it as a religious
dictatorship instead of an Islamic Republic and called for replacing the fake
Islam taking over Iranian's hearts and minds with real Islam but other clerics
did not have such daring and bravery and considered ineffective complaints
enough. Of course Ayatollah Boroujerdi expended his life on complain about
despotism and also persisted in his beliefs, he became willing to passage all
his life; family, intimate men, security and future though he sacrificed all
his life, he has a various popularity in Iran. On the day of involvement more
than one thousands people came to his site to be killed for getting freedom. If
Ayatollah's neighborhood was not surrounded and also if news agencies acted
timely, hundreds of thousands people would gather there at least. They believed
their way so that knew death in this way very sacred. It has been seen such
resistance and persistence lesser in other protesting motions.
6- Regime disagreement with Ayatollah Boroujerdi
was not on personal affairs. Nobody confronts a government that has issued
his/her genocide order and everyone who is with him/her for just usual affairs.
His problem with government was about ideological affairs. It means he believed
that religious government is illegitimate from the root.
7- The result of his campaign should be evaluated
so: Iran's governmental Mullahs do not pity their coreligionists. What about
others?! Anyway his resistance against of governmental Mullahs oppressions
proves that in Iran the government that is religion claimer has factually
problem with religion and prophet and everything is just excuse for them.
Part 5: Ayatollah Seyyed Hossein
Kazemeini Boroujerdi's family and ancestors
Ayatollah's mother: Mrs. Fatemeh Sadat Nakhi was
affected by smelling different poisoned and tear gases at the night of attack
(7 October 2006- 15 Mehr 1385) and in Evin prison was subject to hurt Ayatollah
and make him confess. After a while she was taken to hospital that in treatment
stages in February 2007(Bahman 1385) she passed away.
Ayatollah's only wife: Mrs. Akram Vali Doust was
born in 1961 (Ordibehesht 1339). On the day of attack (7 October 2006 - 15 Mehr
1385) in an interview with a satellite channel she said: "we are six
individual in a family. God knows and all intimate friends and neighbors are
witnesses that in these 14-15 late years and especially these recent years we
have tasted only annoyance, bothering, threat and deprivation in our life. If
everyone else were instead of me, she would get certainly divorced many times
but I did not become satisfied to leave my husband alone in bearing disasters
which every day came to us unfairly from a direction. Now, we are in start of
genocide, I declare that with all deprivations that I tasted because of this
joint life I thank God and I am satisfied with my husband. I think that the
history will recall us as peace and pacifism pioneers." This oppressed
woman endured mental and physical tortures during her captivity in severest
possible kind. She had been tyrannized to make Ayatollah forced confesses and
now she is under treatment because of cerebral and nervous illnesses. Since
Ayatollah's only house has been confiscated, she and his two daughters are
homeless and live in intimate friends and familiar's houses hardly.
Ayatollah's old son: seyyed Mahdi was born in 1980
(Khordad 1358) who broke his shoulder and left leg under tortures of his
captivity. Some of his abilities in sight and hearing were damaged. Now he is
under cure stages.
Ayatollah's younger son: seyyed Mohammad was born
in 1981(Azar 1359) who has been suffered from severely mental and physical
problems after releasing.
Ayatollah's old daughter: Marziye Sadat was born
in 1986 (Aban 1364).
Ayatollah's younger daughter: Mahya Sadat was born
in 1990(Dey 1368).On 7 October 2006(15 Mehr 1385) in an interview with a
journalist she said: "during these recent weeks we wanted our father to
find a way to escape from these fears and involvements. We could not tolerate
anymore. "My darling; we did not come to these disasters by our authority.
We were busy for evangelism God and did not interfere in politics. God's
enemies' involved us in these troubles and made us encircled in this tight
cage, they injure us from all sides by dagger and spear but this cage door
would be open very soon and we would free from these problems and
difficulties.…" my father cried and said. These two sisters suffer from
many severe limitations and they have problem in the sequel to their education.
Ayatollah's older brother: Seyyed Hassan who is in
a very bad hardship and restriction.
Ayatollah's younger brother: Seyyed Mohsen
Kazemeini Boroujerdi is his brother. He is one of prominent clerics in Tehran
but is in limitation and under a very strict restriction. He had to close his
office by Intelligence service threat and also he must go to SCC once every two
weeks.
Ayatollah's only sister: Mansoureh Sadat is also
partnering in delivered tragedies to her father and also his brother. In
prison, they had been caused her to eat something distrustful which has been
formed some tumors in her brain. She is in cure period.
Ayatollah Boroujerdi's fathers chain:
His father, grand Ayatollah Seyyed Mohammad Ali
Kazemeini Boroujerdi (1924-2002, 1303-1381) was one of famous and religious
guide in Pahlavi government who wrote more than 30 books. Dr. Ali Sharia'ti in
" Alavi Tashayyo' and Safavi Tashayyo'" book has compared him with
Allame Majlesi. Dr. H. who was one of his sinceres says: he was busy about half
of a century in Iran's capital to write books, answer to people's questions and
serve people. Authorship abundance and his attractive speeches in Pahlavi
government had made him a known cleric. Not cooperating of Kazemeini Boroujerdi
with revolution establishers caused government hatred. He refused all credit
and financial suggestions which were for buying him. He knew many details about
revolution establisher secrets and mysteries. He cried because of people's rash
decisions that they charge God and prophet's account governor Mullahs actions.
His wish was to say evil realities about Iran's leaders in past decades to
people and remove ambiguities from their minds but alas, he was in encirclement
in his humble home and eventually because of major cooperation which there was
between him and his son (Ayatollah) in disclosure of religious dictatorship
nature, in final settlement of account, he was killed by Intelligence service
in Madaen hospital in 18 August 2002(27 Mordad 1381). Even they did not give
his bloodstained cloths to his family that no proofs remained. Even they did
not let observance of commemorative ceremonies and at last in the beginning of
autumn 2006(1386) destroyed his grave in Noor Mosque so that remains no sign of
this offense. His night and day holy wars were considered by religious grandees
of that age so that Ayatollah Seyyed Hossein Tabatabai Boroujerdi, Ayatollah
Seyyed Kazem Sharia't Madari, Ayatollah Seyyed Abolghasem Khui, Ayatollah Seyyed
Mohsen Hakim… confirmed his statuses and honored his works by written and
spoken appreciation.
Ayatollah's grandfather: Ayatollah Seyyed Taher
A'raji Kazemeini Boroujerdi (1890-1979, 1269-1358) learnt theological studies
degrees in the highest level of it and in 1943(1322) became a Mojtahed by
Ayatollah Seyyed Abolhasan Esfehani. He was one of clerics against of Mr.
Khomeini resurrection; he was also one of selects and intimate men to Ayatollah
Tabatabai Boroujerdi (great shi'a cleric who was very popular between people
because of obvious disagreement with religious government establishment by Mr.
Khomeini). He consulted with Mr. Seyyed Taher about many affairs and gave many
affairs to him. His grave is in Boroujerd.
Ayatollah's father's grand father: Ayatollah
Seyyed Abolghasem A'raji Kazemeini about one hundred and forty years ago had to
leave Kazemein and because of abundance of despotism of the Ottoman Empire came
to Iran. He was master in very different fields of science and left some great
works in different subjects of religion and metaphysics sciences. His grave is
in Boroujerd.
Allameh Seyyed Mohsen A'raji Kazemeini is Ayatollah's
fifth father: He is one of the greatest shi'a scientists in twelfth century.
Seyyed Hassan Sadr-e ddin Ameli, shi'a famous genealogist, wrote a book
named" Zekr-ol Mohsenin" in (1866, 1244) with the advice of some of
grantees in Arabic language that is about Seyyed Mohsen A'raji Kazemeini's
life, scientific statuses and written works. He also wrote about life story of
his fathers chain that his scientific and spiritual statuses has been
described, for instance Mr.Seyyed Mohsen has been written many books about
religion, poem, history and literature. He did not accept financial suggestion
of Iran's king, Fath Ali Shah Ghajar, and did not become ready to cooperate
with him in governmental affairs. Mr. Sheik Ja'far Kashef-ol Gheta' said to
Fath Ali Shah Ghajar: "it is suitable to say to people that in izan after
" أشهَدُ أنّ عَليّاً وَليّ الله " Say "وَ
أنّ السّيد مُحسن أعرَجي وليّ الله" he is one of God's unknown friends in our
age." In "Khulasat-ol Mataleb" book written by Mr.
Seyyed Hossein's father has been mentioned that one day Mirzaye Qumi had been
affected so much by knowledge and wisdom of Mr. Seyyed Mohsen A'raji so that
requested such a thing of Mosque's muezzin.
His masters were Allameh Bahr-ol olom, Vahid
Behbahani and Sheik Ja'far Kashef-ol Gheta'. His famous students were Seyyed
Mohammad Bagher Shafti (Seyyed Mosque sponsor in Esfehan), Allameh Seyyed
Abdullah Shebr Kazemi (Koran's famous analyst and writer of more than 70 volume
books) and Sheik Ablod Hossein A'Sam (researcher, jurisconsult, poet, writer
and one of notables), Allameh Seyyed Hadi Sadr Ameli, Mirza Abolghasem Gilani
with a well-known name of Mirzaye Qumi ("Ghavanin" book writer),
shi'a cleric in the Qajar dynasty). There are various news in the life of Ale
A'raj chain which is more than this brief and we consider it enough that Ale
A'raj is oldest and most famous Sadat chain in Iran, Iraq and Lebanon and
always they had disagreed with politics. Ayatollah's twenty fifth father is
Obeidollah A'raj (Imam Sajja's grand son) who is tribe chain of Ale A'raj.
Ayatollah's twenty fourth father is Ali Saleh; in valid "Osol-e Kafi"
book; (second volume, 210 p) shi'a eighth Imam, Ali ebne Moses Arreza, has
praised him and his family.
Ayatollah's family tree:
Seyyed Hossein son of Seyyed Mohammad Ali son of
Seyyed Taher son of Seyyed Abol Ghasem(Sadegh) son of Seyyed Mohammad Abdol

Part 6: Ayatollah Boroujerdi's most
important international corresponding
A) Before detention: factually he is one of
individuals with belief of peace and pacifism between nations and religions in
all over the world because not only he honored human rights international
declarations but also with complaint to United Nations, international
institutions and other religion and nation's important individuals about
religious offences and wanted them to tend to their crimes. He demanded to over
see doing orders in Iran by human rights institutions. Not only Iran's governor
Mullahs do not accept human rights international orders but also they name UN
as a toy! freedom of religions, belief and speech and also try to separate religion
from politics were the main requests in Ayatollah Boroujerdi's letters. He knew
these things very important and vital to set up peace and security in Iran and
other countries in the world.
Some parts of his letter to Pope Benedict the
sixteenth, world Catholicism leader
(whole text was published in BZ-Berlin newspaper
in September 2006):
Your Honor, I am holder of the greatest and most
crowded independent religious meetings in Iran that I am in disfavor of
government. The main reason to my pressures; limitations; social, mental and
physical restrictions by government are just governmental religion rejection
and unbelief to materialistic pacifism; theism and humanism are my mottos
during many years. My modest life and also my father's life, who was one of the
greatest clerics in Tehran, have caused society to public trend and a way to
people nearness to great God… I have always been under governmental hostility.
The government is claimer of Islamic ethics and shi'ite but they are hostile
toward me who I am a famed cleric from the chain of prophet and his family so
that others could not believe that my sin is just I do not wanting mixed
religion and politics and lose my afterlife just with the value of worldliness.
My unforgivable sin is just revealing Islam reality that its mottos are unity,
laxity and forgiveness. I read out the shi'ite that its leader woke up his
killer and gave him the opportunity of running away and also after terror
advised his sons: "if you forgive my killer, it will be better for your
injured father…" I am on threshold of being killed, now that I write this
letter to you, it is fifty days that my house is encircled by governmental
force and the order of execution by a firing squad of my followers and me has
been issued but with the help of God I have avoided surrender and I have been
ready to be killed.
Some parts of his letter to UN Secretary General
Kofi Annan (in letter he knew governors who are claimers of religiosity the
main obstacles in being peace, pacifism and freedom. This letter was reflected
in news Media. Amnesty international, which works under the view of UN, issued
several declarations.):
Your Excellency Secretary-General
One of worst joint disasters between all world
nations is despotism, cruelty and injustice. The thing that makes world's
beauties colorless is power's autocracy and selfishness. Anybody who sits down
on the triangle of gold, power and slyness wants to monopolize all people's
things that eventually includes spiritual and beyond relations between God and
people and makes inner and heartily distances in metaphysical desires with
earth people. This is highest offence; their committing religious despotism is
more wretched than economical colonialism and cultural exploitation because in
this situation, mankind is instead of God and dictates his/her carnal desires
under the title of God. This religious dictator dries mankind conscientious
cell out and makes history scratched and disappears divine affection from
people's heart.
Your Excellency United Nations Secretary-General;
nowadays we have faced with such disaster. They boycott inner newspapers to
suppress religion separated from politics and gather satellites to prevent
international news agencies information science which are aware of affairs.
According to remained documents in Iran history I,
as an independent religious leader, am owner of the biggest national unforced
gatherings. I request immediate investigation about Iran's religious offences
from you.
Some parts of his letter to the Europe Foreign Politics
Chief, Javier Solana:
Your Excellency,
We are in the worst times in history, internal newspapers
are in censorship and satellites have been confiscated. There is no the
possibility of informing international institutions about the situation in Iran.
My request and many of Iranian nations who want to follow the religion without
has not been answered. Now; with all spiritual, credit, social and physical
hurts, I have submissively and alien resisted with all my soul in my house and
expect that international institutions help human kind and do not let thinkers
against of politics destroy that God has created human in the bed of freedom
and has not let others exploit it. The
first and the most important duty of everyone are supporting of others independence
and freedom. When they close our rightful voice in Iran and other countries,
your duty will be more than before and mass conscionably commitments order to
reflect the voice of our moan and be our helpers because we need liberal men to
make following history. How in natural disasters such as earthquake, flood,
Tsunami, all broadcasters and humanitarian helps from all over the world would
gather but in suppression, inhumanity and violation disasters every body is
quiet, no heart breaks, no tear comes.
Europe parliament carried a resolution on 16 November
2006-25 Aban 1385 9:52 GMT which expressed its worry about Iran's government
contraries clerics' situation, especially Ayatollah Boroujerdi, and reported
that Ayatollah Seyyed Hossein Kazemeini Boroujerdi, who wanted freedom of
religions, with many of his followers have been captured.
Some parts of his last invitation, some days
before detention, which issued in internet sites:
World's tired men respect to God of peace, justice
and kindness. World's miserable men respects to God of beauty and greatness.
Now that we are in harsh and cruelty condition in Ramadan, two months spent
from the beginning of Intelligence service and governmental agent's inhuman
attacks to traditional and apolitical religion. Just God knows that we have
seen what cruel and offences incredibly from Islamic and belief claimers,
during these days which made ill spirituality soul and annoyed mankind
conscience. In sooth when liar and religion selling Moslems embark on the sack
of society's moral treasures and like scorpion prey on feeble dispossessed on
the earth, it is such as a superior Richter earthquake which breaks human dread
and gives fatigue to human body. It is two months that they have declared the
war between political religion and God lovers. Hundreds people are affected by
mental and physical problems in medieval 209 section cells of Evin prison and
are involved in distress their hostility of gold, power and slyness men and
history wrote claw, clutch and tooth of devilish enemies… I hereby request to
deliver our voice to all over the world from Amnesty international, human
rights look out and all freedom fighter institutions and also carry a
resolution in United Nations in supporting religion without politics and
freedom action of God followers in worshipping and move nations in supporting
divine oneness and save human calendar from unkindness.
B) Ayatollah Boroujerdi's recent letter writing
from Evin prison: these letters have been delivered by hospital responsible,
where Ayatollah Boroujerdi had been bedridden there for a while, to his lawyers
in Europe who are seeking these letters.
Ayatollah's request from United States House of
Representatives, 110 congresses:
Esteemed members
Dear Parliament Speaker
Injured and deprived prisoner's hello to you.
I have been under torture and pressure of the
politics advocating religious for long years. A small part of our religious and
apolitical collection was demonstrated in the largest stadium and caused
terrified the Mullahs whose their benefits is up to the beliefs of people in
the "Revolution's Religion."
In that unique demonstration the religious
minorities and the followers of other opinions were presented as well and it is
proved that Iranian people have become tired if the political religion and want
theological and belief liberties.
Dear Sirs
We have not been politicians but want the
separation of religion from politics. We know the traditional religion
separated from terror, aggression, spying, prison, lash and discrimination. It
has received great welcome and support of the fold of people and different
levels of society; and motivated the aggression and jealousness of the
governmental Mullahs. Now, I am in the worst spiritual and physical situation.
I am wanting for a great worldwide movement for
providing the initial liberty in my home. By effective activities and providing
an appropriate international situation for doing a contract in the Security
Council of the United Nations, I hope you to save us from this dictator more
aggressive than medieval one.
Seyyed Hossein Kazemeini Boroujerdi
Tehran, Evin
Ayatollah's letter to President George W Bush,
president of United States of America:
Esteemed President George W Bush
The president of the United States of America
After endless greeting;
First and foremost, I thank you very much for your
meaningful lecture in the Islamic Center of Washington over revealing the
identity of the minority in Iran who know themselves as the candidate of God
and owner of worldwide Moslems.
I appreciate your attention to my combatant and
resistance against dictatorial orders of that group as well.
Dear Sir,
I do not know your knowledge of myself. I am one
of family every one of which has been the religious reference of their period.
They believed in the mixture of religion and politics as the way of religious
dictatorship.
My protesting against religious dictatorship and
aggressiveness, achieved welcome by the followers of other religions,
nationalists and liberal groups and even laic ones upon my opinions or
religious independent associations in a vast area, according to the remained
documents.
Also, my repeated request for interview with the
Iranian government to have been accused of wanting to govern while my all
activities were completely oppose to this accusation.
To you, the hero of combatant against dictator
governments, I am writing this letter in a situation closed in the chain and
clock of the religious dictatorship and so under continuous threaten of murder.
Some friends of mine have been killed and my
family has been homeless. My followers who mostly are the victims of this
recent 28 years are under diverse pressure all over the country.
My co-nations who are the property of one of the
wealthiest country in the world suffer seriously from poverty, misery and
insecurity, while they do not have the right to criticize, protest or request
their necessities.
You, the first opponent person against terrorism,
have told very often that you esteem all religions and beliefs but the Mullahs
of 1357 phonetic revolution of Iran try to represent America and western
countries as the machine of destroying Islam by assuming lots of money and
censor and distortion the news.
I hope the expedients to be accomplished in such
away that the "new worldwide ordination" and " new middle
east" would be clear of the probable destroying of real Islam, parallel to
combating against political Islamic radicals.
My cordial wishes are to be in a secure position
in order to separate religion from politics upon my academic and scientific
abilities and regarding the valid historical and current documents. And to
separate God's and prophets' aspects from governors, pretending their
advocating because I think theocratic and religious colonialism is much more
dangerous than the economical or cultural one; terror and suicidal cases are
good examples.
Unfortunately, the religious great devils from the
crimes and treasons of highest level in the name of theological orders and pull
the humanity to the border of destruction. Put the current history harmful to
theology; and in this regard the founders and publishers of "Velayat-e
Faqih" who gain something from exporting their contaminated belief
products to the Islamic society under crisis, have the most part of destructive
effects.
Dear Sir,
I know that the complaint of a shi'a director to
the president of the United States of America would be accusable and abnormal
upon many critics but, as you have said very often, the expenditure of being
good evaluated in the future is not possible other that supporting these
critics.
It is to be mentioned that I have asked Pope
Benedict the Sixteenth, general secretary of United Nation organization,
European Union and observer of the Human Right to help me but I did not receive
any significant support.
Finally, I should remind you that the United
States of America has no legal promise to Iranian people but as you are the
director of an ultra power country in the world, this responsibility would give
you another duty against deprived, injured and oppressed Iranian people.
Therefore, I ask you to reflect the voice of
requesting liberty and anti oppressing of all Iranian to the world, and for the
liberty of belief and thought and also for supporting me in taking the religion
out of the hands of theological dealers who have sent the altruism and
international peace to the place of discrimination, hate, terror and war; and
order to be approved a contraction in the United Nation by applying
international devices.
Respectfully yours

The letter of the
independent prisoned premier in iran Ayatollah kazemeini borujerdi
To the french republic
president Mr. Nicolas Sarkozy:
Esteemed French
republic president
With greeting and
eternal esteem
Mr Nicolas Sarkozy
You are the president
of a country that has been the place of culture and civilization in Europe in
the important historical periods.
There, it has
accommodated the largest associations of bright minded, thoughtful people and
effective writers. Your kind co-nationals have sent the abstract and concrete
humanistic helps to the people of the countries in crisis.
Dear Sir,
I am writing to you
from a land that is one of the wealthiest countries in all aspects in the
world. But its people are contaminated by different kind of poverty and
miseries, thoughtful and bright minded people had to escape.
In our land any critic
or protest is put down in the name of religious orders execution because its
governors know themselves as the substitutions of god and official heritage of
prophets in the world. they know the people`s wealth, mind and spirit as their
own properties and the authority of the country sources and wealth as their
proper right.
You as the worldwide
protector of peace,
The reason of stroke
against me- despite of being the greatest independent religious association in
Iran having many followers inside and outside of Iran-was representation of
peaceful opinion and aggressive less of non-political religion that took place
upon valid documents and therefore threatened the governmental Mullahs.
My real guilt was
protesting against misusing religion for personal benefits, dictatorial aims
and obvious protest against "velayat-e faqih" that they want to
substitute by any kind of false gossip and artificial accuses. but not having
an advocate or physician and not presenting the worldwide newscasters in my
courts would prove the realities.
Despite our activities
were not political or security, they imposed us such tortures, oppressions and
privations that pens or expresses can not present it qualitatively and
quantitatively.
The hundred percent
news boycott against us will prevent reflection of relevant realities.
therefore I ask the first position of the country of thought and pen who is one
of the most effective leaders in the European union to control it as soon as
possible in order to be taken place the appropriate steps in the united nations
and European union by being presented the relevant cases.
Dear Sir,
now that your
international innovations and outstanding approaches have been concerned by the
worldwide society and have created a new hope for solving the international
critics, I insistedly ask you to order a more effective movement in supporting
the put down Iranian people who are closed in the suffocation worse than
medieval one.

Letter of Iran's apolitical religious leader, Ayatollah Seyyed Hossein Kazemeini Boroujerdi
To respected chancellor of
Germany, MS Angela Merkel:
With the presentation of hello ever esteem
The history of despotic governments is full
of ever reports of suppression, discrimination, felony and corruption. Phroon and Namroud excuse was their felling
of domination and superiority that knew themselves as God of all over the world
and Hitler set the world on fire
in excuse for racial priority and today we see similar movement in Iran land
that has been revealed in phony claimer on behalf of God and delegation of
prophets. Yes, unfortunately mixing religion with policy has set some
implements for governors who are claimers of religiosity and commit horrible
kinds of crimes, internal suppressions and international adventuresome ness
just in excuse for carrying out God's orders. They have times declared that
they know it as their duty to make world digest in their thoughts with reliance
on the feeling of religious priority and also imagine international
expansionism as their divine and Godly vocation!
Excellency Merkel;
Although I am from a grand shi'a cleric and
have largest religious and independent crowd in Iran, have been under different
kinds of troubles and put in prison because of public protests against above
items and furthermore effective efforts separation religion from policy, faith
in freedom of speech and belief, submission of peaceful and pacific ideas in
Islam and now I am under torture and permanent menace of killing.
MS chancellor;
Appearance of "Human Holocaust" will not be impossible from
governors who do not feel sorry for their compatriots and coreligionists
because they know people as daily and worthless victims who set them to the
highest rank in history 28 years ago and donated " the primacy of the top
spiritual leader" ( Velayat-e Motlaqeh), and " imamate" to them.
They have set their forums behind of "Nation" trench and put forward
their offending projects constantly as Iran nation will and oppress every kind
of criticism and protest. If the position and stand of nation who are their
real hosts is so, could it be imagined what and how the position of foreigners
is in their minds?! Of course, top international men will not be acquitted of
being in collusion with brutal men and connive with cruel governments for
ignoring Iranian people demand voice and their names will be written in
diplomatic pages of calendar as agents of religious colonialism and colleagues
of religious arrogance.
O'you excellent lady, o'you the victor of
peace and liberal-mindedness;
You are one of the most important leaders and
Europe Union pillars and your kind and Aryan nation has seen similar days
during Hitler government and you comprehend our horrible situation
"religious Hitlerism" better, therefore I request showing public
sprit and concern to Iranian people from you and want and move international
and effective men and organizations to save oppressed, injured and deprived
Iran nation before losing opportunities.
Respectfully yours, Seyyed Hossein Kazemeini

Under terrible spiritual& physical condition,
Evin Prison, Tehran
The complaint of anti dictatorship religious
reference of Iran to the Sirs of
European Union and members of European Parliament:
Esteemed members
Dear principal
The greeting of a prisoner under torture to you
Here,
Beliefs inquiring is at a level that makes European medieval churches
forgotten. All Iranian people suffer from increasing capital punishment,
terror, violence and kidnapping. They want the human rights and beliefs freedom
rules to be realized. They do not accept aggressive religion, which is
advertising by governmental clergies, as "Real Islam" and they know
it as "57 revolution religion".
It
is more than 15 years that I am under tortures, boycott and pressures of
Iranian governmental clergies. My desire is releasing discrimination and
realizing peace and equality for all my compatriots. Last year there was the
last religious and apolitical collection in the largest athletic stadium in
Iran despite the governmental suppression and terror .In that unique collection
only a part of the crowded were my followers and the rest were of religious
minorities, the messenger of peace, peaceful life and complete solidarity
between different followers of religions and beliefs in Iran.
I,
as a man who adore our God, want you to help us. We have not been politician,
but search the separating of religion from what would make the despotic
clergies angry. Now with all my physical illnesses because of the prison, in
the worst mental state and under continuous threat of murder, I will be waiting
for your effective response.
Respectfully

Seyyed
Hossein Kazemeini Boroujerdi
Tehran,
Evin Prison
Ayatollah
Kazemeini Boroujerdi’s request from Nobel Peace Committee to
Attract
protection in gaining influential immunity:
Dear
Sirs, Madams, Respected attendant,
Dear
Principle,
Accept
my hello from my painful row in Evin prison, north of Tehran, Iran’s capital.
I
am spending very hard time. Helping peace and cooperating with liberals and
Human Rights defenders are all my hope. Only my God knows that what and how I
have endured during 15 years of serving to God of peace and the rules of
liberal-mindedness. I have hated cruelty since my childhood and struggling with
despotism was the echo of my heartbeat. I could never be quiet in front of
power masters oppressions and close my eyes in the face of discrimination,
partiality and killing freedom and not hearing the protest and groans of
defenseless men. I am always very thirsty for justice and being in continuous
fight with dictators. I worship God who would not send prophets for wrath and
anger and also not send a rule in dread and terror for society; I would accept
religion which is philanthropic and would not let administrator’s despotism and
autocracy. I know justice the soul of community. When the soul of human becomes
chaotic, insecurity will enclose all over the world. I know freedom the body of
creatures. Divestment of freedom from every entity causes his/her mould to
become ruined.
The
undersigned, Seyyed Hossein Kazemeini Boroujerdi, know attention to Human
Rights the most important vital services; Human need freedom for releasing from
every kind of captivity. Every man who by draft of every law intends to limit
or erase freedom; he/she has oppressed the reality of humanity and is deserving
exclusion. I know peace more important than rain for people on earth because we
could help life with the lack and shortage of water by humankind’s affection
and kindness. I know widespread injustice in countries for mankind’s sons more
unsavory than famine because human beings would aid each other in nature’s
wrath and alleviate pressures caused by natural calamities but the power of
plural protest would break in violation of natural, internal and inherent of
human and the ability of peasants and citizens for restoring their rights would
disappear. I know past history shamefully with regard to mass violation of
Human Rights when rulers invested nation’s life for their expansionism and
deprived people’s calmness for their conquest; they shed blood of oppressed men
for their over ambition and made extinct many generations to gain barbaric and
inhumane intentions. I know existing world wars on history head rebellion
selected creature of God and also indelible blackness of its crimes are blots
on conscienceless and atheist politicians’ honor. I never believe in religion
which by force, beliefs investigation and divestment of intellectual freedom
legitimizes the way of development for itself. I think religion and state
should be separated and joining these two would mean preparing religious
autocracy and international crisis. History has proved that preparing religious
excuses in governmental affairs endanger international peace and security. I
know human as the lord of all creatures and divine chosen in the world of being
and every kind of offensive to identity, existence, personality and ownership
of him/her is against God’s will. All men are uncontested masters in states and
states are their servers. Every ruler who intend to human exploitation is
perverted and does not have the right of governmental profession. Colonialist
in every cloth who has the motivation of plunder and oppression to mankind has
declared war to individual people. There is no difference in races, colors and
countries in the world and mankind is participant in everything which gains
from this earthy planet. Being hunger in the world causes dishonor of affluent
people during history and is written as cruelty and having no conscience. All
the nations on the earth should exploit all natural abilities of water, soil
and air. Greediness, expansionism and monopoly are signs of lack of thrift,
caution and moderation which cause existence of enmity and hatred and innocent
people would menace by blood shed, therefore we should avoid preparing everything
which causes fights. The preliminaries of war are in hostile assuming
defensive, so between all religions and races should make bridges of friendship
and kindness and they should establish international relations on the base of
favorable opinion, spread of amity and avoiding minority, geographical,
boundary and humanlike intrigues.
I
am crier of peace and for this reason have presented my youth to God. As a
liberal, I have forfeited in being sacrificed my family and breakup my life for
honor of freedom. I wish democracy for all over the world and do not know any
difference between holy religions. Every manner which promotes and takes us to
God would be blissful. I know weapons of genocide opposition of mankind and
nuclear bombs the cause of fall and extinction of the human race, as well. I
know competition in production, reproduction and selling weapon against of
health of environment. I find guilty everything that causes a clash for human
calmness. Improving culture should be in a way that it would not need to have
prison. Governments should not enact laws which make men in trouble. Taxes,
revenues and fines ought to be in balance and consider the ability of different
types of people for giving back.
I
show humility from Iran to all Human Rights activities and hug peace criers.
When the committee of supporting animals controls the way of treating human
toward animals and put it under microscope, how remains unaware of oppressed
and miserable mankind in the world! Although I had been invited and advised to
exit from my homeland, I endangered all existent dangers toward my compatriots
and the feeling of their need to support their lawful, logical and known rights
and I could not prepare to leave my country. Now I m in the worst propaganda,
spiritual, familial and security measures conditions and international
assemblies are aware of my state but at the same time I tolerate prison, exile,
harm and pressure for the sake of importance of Human Rights and greatness of
pacifism and I call to witness God and history that I have avoided doing
injustice since beginning of my life and have adored serving dispossessed. I
did not take advantage of my important situations in social exalting and
popular interests. At the time of attacking police force I invited all my supporters
to surrender and avoided confronting invasions that caused slaughter. Now I
know myself a devotee of peace and an advertiser of freedom and a supporter of
Human Rights and I request from decision maker assemblies that help me in
promoting and moving forward my holy goals and make suitable immunity for this
responsibility for me.
Respectfully
yours

Some parts of Ayatollah's letter to Ms Asma
Jahangir, especial reporter of United Nations about freedom of religious:
You the woman of justice and freedom, Although I
am such as clerics who were the religious leaders of their ages and my thesis
had been faced with the encourages of different parts of society such as
religious minority, they did not respect and appreciate me and made me under so
horrible physical and mental tortures that words can not explain them.
Dictatorship, terrifying and violence is so much that nobody can help another
one and compulsorily expectation is helping from out of country but the history
has shown us that the possibility of special support from out of country is not
possible, therefore I really request you act urgently for my "religious
guarantee" as soon as possible, please and before that the opportunities
would be gone. My religion and belief is to worship God and not in the manner
that some people know themselves representatives of God and Messengers (as they
use the word of "Velayat-e Faqih").
Some parts of Ayatollah's invitation:
I request all intellectual, thinker men, choices
and masterminds who had to leave Iran and our country has been affected by
their lack to cultural and scientific poverty while they see sorrowful
happening of disrespect toward Iran and Iranian people in a world-wide scale
and they try to revive unfair violated reputation and international peace
establishment. I request them to declare to take into account these twenty
eight years disasters to abnormal thesis of "our politics is just our
religion" and not to take into account of religion and huge masses of
nation.
Requesting of the Ayatollah Kazemeini Boroujerdi,
from reporters without borders:
My Dears,
Informing is an
esteemed and important job. putting down the real news would bring peace,
calmness, tranquility and equality; while news censor and distortion the events
is a painful example of torturing which its continuous smacks strikes the
suppressed, injured and deprived corps of Iranian people of all levels in the
society from the governmental dependent newscasters.
My principle guilt is being opposite to "
Velayat-e Faqih", resisting against oppressive and unjust orders, trying
to set devotion and beliefs free from monopoly of God's advocating pretenders
and prophet's vicars that according to the remaining photos and films of my activities
became welcome to general population and religious minorities but they try to
substitute them by the artificial and false accusations….
You, the relief reporters, beware that the
internal reporters are condemned to be quiet or deviate the realities, censor or
broadcast false cases, therefore I insistedly ask you to send the governmental
Mullahs hostility to us to the Security Council of The United Nations- Human
Beings Rights institutions and the ones against dictators in the world.
Supporting the victims of belief and express is
the duty of any liberal man.
Some parts of Ayatollah's caution to free mass
Media:
I warn all mass Media and men who wave supporting
flag of resistance against of cruelty, despotism and dictatorship but they are
in silence because of every reason that in conscience court they will be
responsible because regime enmity with me, this country self-sacrificing
soldier, is not personal and private one but is ideological enmity. I know
religious government, as my ancestors, illegitimate and unlawful and I do not
have any belief in "Velayat-e Faqih". I was arrested and became
imprisoned also in 1995(1374) and 2001(1379) because of this reason when I had
enough reasons to prove my opinions. I have requested formal debate or open session
of court with my lawyer presence of them several times.
Part 7:
An abstract of his opinions
Freedom: freedom is a divine blessing that no one has
right to limit it under no circumstances. Yes, when individual freedom causes
to impair public freedom, we should make the rebellious aware with educative
and raised subjects. Civilization and technology will come to our life with
free thought. Free thought causes removing viruses from life leaving. Why a
person builds prison to divest freedom of someone else.
Justice: justice is highest symbol of affection and
sacrifice's key. Justice for men and society is more vital than rain. When we
observe justice, there won't be poverty and misery. Justice is a divine
blessing for human comfort. Society without justice is a dangerous jungle in
which dominate struggle for existence. Justice makes life pleasant and
injustice makes it unpleasant and the best situation of life will be gone.
Government: human need some social and legal parties for
his/her continuity and survival which its symbol is in formation of government.
Leader should be elected by all people; people's hatred of government could be
measured by the estimate of people's suppression. Government which is mixed
with despotism is out of intellectuality. Governmental agents should do an exam
in the field of financial, behavioral and of credit before and after being in
charge of key positions so that they would not take advantage of public
properties. Leader should not know he/she all people's speaker and declare individual
decisions as Republicanism. The best leader
is some one who thinks he/she is nation's server, grateful and beholden.
Torture: torture for every thing and every reason is
condemned. Torturer is a real animal in man appearance. With torture human fame
would be gone and all reliabilities and credibility which are God's gifts would
be ruined. If they even bother animals with the tools of mental and physical
tortures, it will be immoral and inhuman action. Using torture in judicial
penal, informational fields is an unforgivable and unbearable action. Remained
cases of being under torture are illegal and out of any credit. Every
confession by torturing is illegal and invalid.
War: fighting is so bad. Atom age wars are more horrible
and harrowing than old wars. Nations should not be destroyed for international
replacing. Nations should not pay the expense of changing governments. Peasants
and citizen's honor and sanctity in powerful government's attacks should be
perfectly protected. The war is holy which all corners of justice and humanity
would be respected and never kills an innocent one.
Security: the world should be a safe place for human.
Everything which makes human security in danger is against of nature law. Human
should be in completing safe in all over the world and world's governments
should be something to prepare their people's security with everything that is
possible. In international union some rules should be to remove every threat
which has a shadow on human head. Pleasure life depends on removing poverty,
misery, nervousness and sadness.
God: God is inveterate friend. Our God is kind to
inferiors. Paganism is pain. Being with God is eternal honor of Adam and Eva
generation. Know your God that experiences your life better. Unique God does not
oppress and order to dictatorship. Religious governments which do not respect
human rights accuse God to be rough and crude.
Religion:
religion is the way through growing up behavior, thoughts and mankind talents
so that using compulsory or abusing it is against of God's desire and has the
negative result.
Woman: woman is God's beautiful creature. Women are
high-powered and talented in every field and should have the rights as men.
Women's honor, chastity and rights should be considered in vocational and
belonging to corporations divisions. We should never forget this responsible
for completion and heredity elegance and tenderness and avoid trading their
morality and chastity and also never using them as a tool for marketing.
Human rights: human as representative of God and owner of
land have rights that in preparing them there is no obligation and should not
shirk in its vindication. Right of life is on the top of these rights and other
rights branch off that. Negligence toward them entails God's curse and
disobedient of human being. Human rights in all its needs are vital and no one
has right to limit them as society's lawyer. Man has rights which should be
provided freely. Impartial observers always should control performance of human
rights all over the world.

Part 8: Some International Reports about
Ayatollah Boroujerdi
News filtered out of Iran this Sunday of demonstrations
protesting the arrest of supporters of Ayatollah Mohammad Kazemeini Boroujerdi,
an Iranian cleric fighting against the “Political Religion” that has dominated
his country since Khomeini. Rumors also spread that these demonstrations have
become violent with fatalities reported. This is when Pajamas Media turns to
the American who is more associated with the Iranian freedom movement than any
we can think of … Michael Ledeen… for an inside report:
By Michael Ledeen
(updated at bottom)
The news has finally
caught up with the ongoing saga of the Ayatollah Hossein Kazemeini Boroujerdi,
who has been challenging the legitimacy of the Iranian mullahcracy for many
years. Both he and his father–who died 4 years ago, and whose grave has been
desecrated–refused to embrace the Khomeinist doctrine that only a Shi’ite sage
was fit to govern the Islamic Republic. The Boroujerdis retained the
traditional Shi’ite view–the one famously held by Ayatollah Sistani in
Iraq–that clerics should stay out of government and tend to their flock.
Anyone who acts against
the most fundamental doctrine of the Iranian clerical fascist state is going to
have a lot of trouble, and Ayatollah Boroujerdi has had plenty of it. He has
been in and out of prison, and repeatedly in front of the Special Court for the
Clergy, since 1994. According to Amnesty International, “he has reportedly
developed heart and kidney problems as a result of torture.”
His latest round of
defiance seems to have started in late June, when he preached to a large crowd
in a Tehran sports stadium. A month later, on July 30th, the secret police came
to his house, apparently to arrest him. But they found that he was protected by
scores of supporters, so they arrested some of them instead. According to
Amnesty, one of them had a heart attack and was moved to a nearby hospital. And
another said that he was arrested at his home and dragged off to three weeks of
solitary confinement and daily threats.
They tried again on
August 3rd, and were again driven off by his defenders. A month later,
Boroujerdi was visited by a government agent, and a tape recording of that
conversation has been smuggled out of Iran. It was made available to me by
Banafsheh Zand Bonazzi, a leading Iranian-American activist who lives in New
York City.
The security agent told
the Ayatollah that he, too, was a religious man, having attended a seminary
after the revolution. He says that his visit is a kind of courtesy call,
offering Boroujerdi the chance to surrender in a civilized way and then face
trial. There is no escape possible, he says, for one way or another Boroujerdi
will face charges of insulting the government and the clerisy, and perhaps even
having been an accomplice to murder.
Boroujerdi will have
none of this. He says that he has already prepared himself for martyrdom (and
indeed when he was arrested on Sunday, he was wearing a funeral shroud). He tells
the agent that he has already suffered a heart attack, and that he will now
contact the foreign press. This enrages the agent, who warns Boroujerdi that no
place will be safe for him, even the mosque. He brags that Boroujerdi’s father
was murdered, and says that he doesn’t give a damn about the foreign press,
which he calls meaningless.
Boroujerdi did indeed
contact the media, but you may have noticed there wasn’t much coverage until
the past few days. Amnesty’s press release was dated October 3rd, and there was
little coverage of it. He also wrote to such world leaders as Kofi Annan and
Javier Solana, to their apparent indifference.
The secret police came
again for Boroujerdi on the morning of September 28th, again found he was
defended, and again dragged off many of his supporters. In its press release
five days later, Amnesty demonstrated its celebrated droll sense of humor,
writing that “there are fears that the Ayatollah may be at risk of imminent
arrest.” But at least they wrote.
Boroujerdi was dragged
off to his destiny on Sunday, in a dramatic confrontation that involved
thousands of demonstrators, some in Tehran, and some on the road to Qom, where
many of the country’s most prestigious religious schools and scholars are
located. The official news media reported that more than two hundred supporters
were arrested at the house in Tehran, but this is the least of it. Two Iranian
friends in Europe, and one in the United States, have received reports that
speak of more than seven hundred people murdered on the road to Qom. If that,
or anything approaching it, is true, it testifies to two important facts. The
first is the truly vicious and totalitarian nature of this regime, which will
stop at nothing to silence any sign of criticism from the Iranian people.
Somebody should tell Richard Armitage about this, since he has yet to announce
any second thoughts about his infamous claim that Iran is “a kind of
democracy.”
The second fact is
widely, in fact compulsively, denied by a plethora of self-proclaimed experts
on Iran. And that is the bravery of Iranians who wish to be free to practice
their religion and politics as they see fit, rather than as their tyrants
insist. Thousands of people stood up to the regime’s killers, in defense of a
solitary mullah whose crime was to preach traditional Shi’ite values. That’s a
major event, especially because Islam is not very popular these days in Iran.
Just a couple of months ago an Iranian ayatollah told me that it was not
unusual to find the central mosque in major cities like Shiraz and Tabriz
virtually empty for Friday prayers. He said that a grand total of five people
had shown up in Tabriz one Friday.
I doubt most of those
poor souls were protecting Boroujerdi out of religious conviction. I think most
of them were using his protest to challenge the regime for political reasons,
because they wish to be free. There are tens of millions of these people,
awaiting their moment and searching for their leaders. If thousands risked
their lives for an unpopular cause simply because it was a way to stick their
thumbs in the mullahs’ eyes, imagine how many would take similar risks if they
received the political support we have been promising, but failing to deliver,
for so many years now.
UPDATE: I am now being told
that the death figure is way too high, as I rather expected, and the most
recent details also confirm my suspicion that a lot of the demonstrators—of
whom there were indeed many thousands, both in Tehran and on the road to
Qom—were not just defending a popular Ayatollah. Most of the people on the
highway were protesting the skyrocketing inflation that has taken place under
Ahmadi-Nezhad. The regular security forces (revolutionary guards) were unable
to clear the road, since people from various town joined the original protest.
There was a very violent confrontation when RG special units were called in.
Hundreds were arrested, many are hospitalized, including five RGs, who are in
critical condition. I’ll have more accurate death figures in another day or
two, but I wanted to make this correction quickly.

Jailed Iranian Cleric Appeals to Pope
Kenneth
R. Timmerman
Wednesday,
July 18, 2007
PARIS -- A senior Iranian
cleric, jailed for opposing the Islamic regime in Iran, has appealed to the
Pope in a letter smuggled out of Iran by his supporters and made available to
NewsMax.
"Time is running out for
me as I have been sentenced to death," wrote Ayatollah Hossein Kazemini
Borujerdi in the letter, obtained this week from sources close to the jailed
cleric in Europe.
"This is my last plea for
help."
In addition to the Pope,
Borujerdi addressed his appeal to U.N. Secretary General Ban Ki-moon, the
president of the European Parliament and to international human rights
organizations, asking them to intervene with the Iranian authorities to prevent
his execution.
Borujerdi was placed under
house arrest in July 2006 after addressing a massive gathering of his followers
inside Iran.
Last October, anti-riot troops
stormed his family compound, using water cannons to overpower demonstrators who
had gathered in his defense. He was then taken to Section 209 of Tehran's
notorious Evin Prison, which is reserved for political prisoners.
Since then, he has been beaten
and tortured repeatedly, supporters in Europe told NewsMax. He has been denied
the right to a lawyer or visitation rights.
Story Continues Below
The senior cleric fell afoul of
the authorities for refusing to acknowledge the role of Islam in politics, and
for speaking out against the doctrine of velayat-e faqih, absolute clerical
rule.
In his letter, he called the
Iranian regime "unlawful."
In a clear attack on Iran's
ruling clerics, he wrote, "People who use religion for their own benefits
and create their own rules are blasphemous and are destroying the people's
belief in their God."
Borujerdi belongs to the
"quiestist" school of Shia Islam, which rejects the role of Islam in
government.
Associates say he has received
support from Grand Ayatollah Ali Sistani in Iraq, and from Grand Ayatollah
Sadegh Rouhani, who has been under house arrest in Qom, Iran since 1986 for
similarly rejecting the authority of the Islamic regime.
Iran's Shiite clergy remains
divided between a militant school, headed originally by Ayatollah Ruhollah
Khomeini, and the quiestists. Both groups supported the revolution against the
Shah in 1978-1979, but they parted ways when Khomeini seized power and
established a government ruled by unelected clerics.
Over the past 28 years, most
senior ayatollahs who opposed the regime have been confined to house arrest and
have seldom spoken in public.
Borujerdi is the first senior
cleric to be actually jailed since 1979, when Khomeini locked up rival
Ayatollah Kazem Shariatmadari.
Shariatmadari's son, Hassan,
today lives in Germany. Shortly after Borujerdi's arrest, he told the Persian
Service of Radio Free Europe/Radio Liberty that many of Iran's top clerics
reject any role of religion in politics, but have lacked Borujerdi's courage to
attack the regime in public.
"Ayatollah Borujerdi has
expressed the demand for the separation of religion from politics very openly —
to a wide audience and with boldness," Hassan Shariatmadari said.
"This is something that the establishment doesn't like."
Borujerdi was condemned to
death last month by the Special Court for the Clergy during a closed hearing
without witnesses that lasted just several hours.
He was accused of speaking
against the Quran, making up a false god, speaking against the Iranian
government, holding illegal gatherings, and other crimes.
Supporters of the jailed cleric
in Europe told NewsMax that the allegations were "an excuse to cover up
what the regime wants to do to him."
His execution was originally
scheduled for June 25, but the regime put it off after protests from U.S.-based
human rights organizations.
In his letter, Borujerdi said
he wanted human rights organizations to visit Iran "to see for themselves
how people are being forced to live."
He asked that they be allowed
to get involved in the judicial proceedings against him "to hear for
themselves how I am being treated."
The jailed cleric said that he
and his family had been tortured since October 2006. "The torture in Evin
Prison was unbearable," he wrote. "I was under the regime's sharp
razor."
The Iranian authorities have
stepped up repression in recent months, cracking down on women demonstrators,
students, and visiting Iranian-American scholars.
On July 10, armed thugs
abducted well-known labor leader Mansoor Osanloo as he stepped off a bus in
Tehran, shouting to passersby that he was "an enemy of Islam."
In northern Iran, a man
convicted of adultery was condemned to death by stoning, a particularly
barbaric punishment.
Hassan Daioleslam, an
independent Iranian-American scholar, believes the regime is stepping up human
rights abuses as a negotiating tactic with the West, in hopes of getting
Western sanctions lifted.
"In a nutshell, the
message we're hearing from the regime's lobby is that the more the West
pressures the regime, the more violent it becomes," Daioleslam told
NewsMax. "Hence, lift the pressure" and the abuses will stop.

Popular Iranian
Cleric Reportedly Held
By NASSER KARIMI
The Associated Press
Sunday, October 8, 2006; 9:53 PM
TEHRAN, Iran -- A popular Shiite Muslim cleric who
opposes mixing religion and politics was detained Sunday after his supporters
clashed with police outside his home in the capital Tehran, news reports said.
Hossein Kazemeini Boroujerdi, a mid-ranking cleric,
receives hundreds of visitors at home every day asking for his blessing but he
is not favored among Iran's hardline clerics under Supreme leader Ayatollah Ali
Khamenei because he does not support politicizing Islam.
About 200 demonstrators gathered beginning
Saturday at Boroujerdi's home, fearing he
could be arrested. The Interior Ministry said the demonstrators had blocked
roads using swords and acid.
The demonstrators clashed with police and authorities
fired back with tear gas to scatter the crowd, several nongovernment newspapers
reported.
Later Sunday, the Interior Ministry said authorities
detained several members of a "religious cult" after they attacked
people with knives and acid. The ministry, in a statement posted on its Web
site, did not name any of those arrested. But the semiofficial Mehr News Agency
reported that one of those detained was 50-year-old Boroujerdi.
Telephone calls to Iranian authorities were not
immediately returned Sunday.
In August, police failed to detain Boroujerdi when his
supporters clashed with police in front of his home. He was detained twice in
1995 and 2000.
---------------------------------------------------------------
http://www.iran-press-service.com/ips/articles-2006/october-2006/broujerdi-arrested_101006.shtml
Tehran, 10 Oct. (IPS) “I am in a situation where Iran’s Ministry
of Intelligence and the Special Court for the Clergy have begun the countdown
for killing me and those who oppose the politicization of religion”, a
dissident Iranian arrested last week claimed.
The authorities confirmed the detention of Ayatollah Mohammad
Kazemeini Broujerdi, on charges of “creating trouble for public order,
endangering the lives of ordinary people and acts of violence” with using
“thousands of pieces of colds and warm arms, including batons, knives, swords
and light weapons” against Law Enforcement Forces.
According to Iranian political analysts, the arrest of Ayatollah
Broujerdi, the first after that of Grand Ayatollah Kazem Shari’atmadari soon
after the victory of the Islamic Revolution of 1979 is a confirmation of the
present Government to return to the early values of the Revolution.
“At a time that the regime is facing growing difficulties both at
home and abroad, the regime is choosing crackdown to divert attention”.
Shariatmadari's son, Hassan, lives in Germany. He told the
Prague-based Radio Free Europe/Radio Liberty that some 27 years after the
establishment of an Islamic republic in Iran, many of the country's clerics
have realized that the involvement of religion in politics subjugates religion
to the will of the state.
"The political establishment forces them to accept its
demands and interpret the religion in accordance with the establishment's
needs", Hassan Shariatmadari says. "Most clerics have realized this,
but because of the heavy price of opposition to the regime, most of them do not
have the courage to express [that view] publicly. Ayatollah Boroujerdi has been
able to express the demand for the separation of religion from politics very
openly -- to a wide audience and with boldness. This is something that this
establishment doesn't like."
Shariatmadari says he thinks Iran's leadership feels threatened by
Ayatollah Boroujerdi because they are concerned that other clerics could follow
his example.
“At a time that the regime is facing growing difficulties both at home
and abroad, President Mahmoud Ahmadi Nezhad, on orders from Ayatollah Ali
Khameneh’i, is choosing crackdown, every kind and against any body, to divert
attention”, one analyst told Iran Press Service.
So far, hundreds of clerics have been arrested, some defrocked,
other left the ranks of the religion on their own, but most of them, including
some popular political or intellectual figures such as Hojjatoleslam Abdollah
Nouri, a former Interior Minister or Hojjatoleslam Yousefi Eshkevari, an
intellectual, or Hojjatoleslam Mohsen Kadivar etc.. are all middle rank
clerics, they noted.
“First of all, Mr. Broujerdi is not an ayatollah. Then, by
creating a dissident, illegal sect, he has enrolled several trouble makers in
Tehran and in neighbouring cities, starting acts of violences in the capital
for sometimes”, Mr. Abdollah Roshan, a deputy for security and political issues
at the Tehran governorate told the Iranian Labour News Agency ILNA.
However, in a letter to the Pope earlier this year, the Ayatollah
said: “I, Seyyed Hosseyn Kazemeni Boroujerdi, lead the largest independent
religious population in Iran. I am subject to government’s wrath and have been
intimidated for years by the Ministry of Intelligence and the Special Court for
the Clergy. The main reason for the pressures, arrests, and psychological,
social, and physical intimidation of me is the abandonment of politicized
religion and disregard for this world…. My father was a helper of the people
and provided refuge for the poor. Four years ago he died suspiciously at the
hospital. The mosque at which he had prayed for half a century was immediately
confiscated by the government. His memorial, which was outside the Noor Mosque
at Khorasan Square in Tehran, was destroyed and its visitors were arrested and
tortured in jail. They were told to never enter the premises again… My crime is
that I do not want to mix religion and politics and lose my afterlife for the
sake of this life….”
While Mr. Roshan has accused the Ayatollah and his followers to
have organized “illegal” gatherings, arresting people in streets and torturing
them” before the LEF intervention, eyewitnesses said supporters chanted slogans
such as, “religious freedom is our obvious right”, and “freedom is our obvious
rights… and asked for the immediate release of the clerics and his followers.
“The ones behind Saturday’s unrest were arrested. All including,
Mr Borujerdi, have been handed over to judiciary officials”, said Roshan,
adding that Broujerdi’s followers have used cocktail Molotov and acid against
both ordinary people and security forces.
“They even (for a time) took members of the force hostage and
threw acid on policemen and vandalized public property”, he said, adding “calm
has been restored” in the crowded neighborhood in downtown Teheran.
All people behind recent troubles including, Mr Borujerdi, have
been handed over to judiciary officials
“We believe that our nation is tired of political religion and
they want to return to traditional religion," Boroujerdi told ILNA on
Saturday.
He said he had written to U.N. Secretary-General Kofi Annan,
European Union foreign policy chief Javier Solana and other leaders asking them
"to make efforts to spread traditional religion", ILNA reported.
A senior police officer was quoted as saying Boroujerdi claimed to
be a representative of the "hidden" 12th Imam, who Shi'ite Muslims
revere, and this prompted some people to make donations.
"This is misinterpreting religion and is sheer lies,"
the police officer was quoted by “Seday-e Edalat” as saying.
Boroujerdi says many Iranians have lost faith in religion because
of the worsening economic situation, including high inflation and unemployment.
He argues that under the shah's regime, people's faith in Islam
was much stronger. He thinks belief in God has actually fallen victim to Iran's
theocracy.
"When people lose their income, they directly blame the
establishment and they become angry at God", Boroujerdi says. "I've
said many times that we should help people worship their God again and make
peace with God. Today we are in the month of Ramadan, [but] many people have
turned away from God because of repression, discrimination, and pressure".
One of the ayatollah's devotees, Hamid, told RFE/RL that
Boroujerdi's views and defiance have won him support from Iranians of different
classes.
"Ayatollah Boroujerdi has never polluted religion with
politics", Hamid says. "He has not become involved in politics, and
he has always supported the needy. He has always said, 'I'm a supporter of the
wretched.' This is, I think, one of the reasons for his popularity". ENDS

Report:
Police in Tehran use tear gas as protesters back dissident cleric
By
Reuters
Supporters of a senior Shi'ite Muslim cleric who
challenged Iran's system of clerical rule clashed with police during a protest
outside the cleric's house, Iranian media reported on Sunday.
Police used tear gas to disperse the crowd of at least 200 people that had
gathered on Saturday outside the home in southern Tehran of Ayatollah Mohammad
Kazemeini Boroujerdi, newspapers reported.
Etemad-e Melli daily said protesters formed a
cordon around the house to call for the release of Boroujerdi's followers who
they said had been detained. Some newspapers said the crowd feared Boroujerdi
might himself be arrested.
Seday-e Edalat reported that the crowd, some carrying
knives, lit fires to stop police approaching the house. A picture showed police
in riot geared lined up near a crowd of people in the street and smoke rising
up.
Officials were not immediately available to
comment.
The Iranian authorities are wary of any challenge,
particularly from top clerics, to the system of clerical rule that was
established after the 1979 Islamic revolution by revolutionary leader Ayatollah
Ruhollah Khomeini.
"We believe that our nation is tired of
political religion and they want to return to traditional religion,"
Boroujerdi told Iran's labour news agency ILNA on Saturday.
He said he had written to UN Secretary-General
Kofi Annan, European Union foreign policy chief Javier Solana, Pope Benedict
and other leaders asking them "to make efforts to spread traditional
religion", ILNA reported.
A senior police officer was quoted as saying
Boroujerdi claimed to be a representative of the "hidden" 12th Imam,
who Shi'ite Muslims revere, and this prompted some people to make donations.
"This is misinterpreting religion and is sheer lies," the police
officer was quoted by Seday-e Edalat as saying.
Iran has an elected president and parliament, but
final authority lies with the supreme leader, currently Ayatollah Ali Khamenei,
according to 'velayat-e faqih', the system of rule by a religious legal scholar
that was propounded by Khomeini.
The supreme leader is chosen by an assembly of
elected clerics.
Some traditional Shi'ite Muslim clerics hold that
religious leaders should not have a political role.
The protesters outside Boroujerdi's home chanted "God is greatest"
and verses from the Muslim holy book, the Koran. One newspaper said a placard
they carried read: "We are ready to be martyred for defending traditional
religion."
As an ayatollah, Boroujerdi holds one of the
highest ranks in the Shi'ite Muslim religious hierarchy.

Seyyed
Hossein Kazemeyni Boroujerdi, A Voice Of Moderate Shiah Islam
Ghazal
Omid - 6/21/2007
Renegade
Ayatollah, some call him. Most of the Iranian human rights activists, including
me, know him through his late illustrious father and through his bold actions
in Iran in 2005. His is the first voice of Moderate Islam echoing aloud from
Iran. Tragically, the government of Iran, seemingly, will soon succeed in
shutting him down if we don’t move fast. The Ayatollah and 17 other members of
his family were sentenced to death in a private court session in Zafaranieh
Tehran on June 10th, 2006. Although very ill and suffering from Parkinson
disease, he defended himself in the Iranian court where he did not even have
access to a lawyer.
In April 2007, as an activist spokesperson passionately fighting for the rights
of 19 political prisoners, I publicly criticized on Fox TV the lack of effort
of international committees on his behalf.
I now publicly apologize for my uninformed criticism. Most people, including
me, assume the UN and Amnesty International don’t do much because we don’t see
many positive results from our petitions. In response to my criticism, I have
belatedly
learned
through personal communication with sources inside these organizations that
both have in fact actively petitioned Iran for leniency not only for the
Ayatollah but other political prisoners as well. Unfortunately, they do not
have the power to enforce the international laws to which Iran is signatory but
chooses to ignore. UN officials in Geneva assure me that they are well aware of
the mental and physical torture political prisoners are enduring daily and that
Mr. Olson, the UN rapporteur, has make repeated appeals but there is not much
that either of the international agencies can do to save Ayatollah Boroujerdi
or anyone else in Iran.
UN
and Amnesty International officers point out the sad-but-true reality that
their hands are tied. They can only remind but cannot force the Iranian regime to
abide by their international contract prohibiting torture of dissidents.
Amnesty has not been able to visit Iran since 1979 and UN visitations have been
denied since 2003.
I
asked UN officers what can be done to save this and other voices who will loose
their lives in the next few months. They answer that the only way seems to be
the media and politicians who can sway Iran by denying resources it needs.
I
naively thought that since America is searching for an influential Moderate
Muslim to stand up to the terrorist Iranian regime, the suicidal willingness of
this man to speak out against this medieval theocracy in an effort to avoid
military conflict and save the lives of American soldiers would get the
immediate attention of someone in the media. Unfortunately I was in for a rude
awakening. Fighting for media attention has proven about as difficult as
fighting the Iranian regime. I was genuinely shocked when my scheduled
appearance on national TV to publicize this voice of reason was pre-empted by
Paris Hilton’s family visit to her private cell which is a cut above the 10th
century dungeons of Iran’s Evin or the Raji-Shahr prison.
Tears
came to my eyes remembering the 19 political prisoners relying on me for help;
even as I hoped Americans would want to help. It made me sad to remember that
even though Amnesty and UN have done everything they can, Khaled Hardani, who
has not been permitted to see his family for six months, will lose his life on
July 3, 2007 and I will have to be the one to deliver the message to his family
or they will hear it over the Iranian media and it will be as though he never
existed.
It made me sad; wondering where was the media two nights ago when prison guards
inside Raji -Shahr prison beat Mr. Nasser Khirolahi unconscious and left him
lying on the ground to bleed to death? Another of his fellow inmates called me
2:30 AM to let me know that the guards beat him on his spine, damaging disks
and leaving his right arm paralyzed.
I
am sad to say one of the men I represent has not seen a dentist in many years.
Finally, the tooth infection overcame a strong man and brought him to his knees
by the pain he felt in his face.
It made me sad that none of these individuals are celebrities and their lives
seem to be expandable.
For the past 28 years, Iran has struggled under a cult of religious Mullah
zealots exploiting and ruining the resources of this vast country to support
Hezbollah in Lebanon and Hamas in Palestine. Recent evidence reveals that road
bombs made in Iran and bearing fake US marks are being used by Al Quaeda in
Afghanistan and Iraq.
Those
of us who dig deeper in the sand see a master plan by certain individuals in
the government of Iran to silence key members of the opposition even, or
especially, if they are the son of Grand Ayatollah Broujerdi. Eye witnesses say
he was able to rally more than 200,000 people around his house last year to
hear him inform the regime that he can no longer bear to witness the atrocities
of killing people in the name of Islam. He shouted that he did not believe
Khomeini’s broadcast when he returned to Iran because he was not a real
Ayatollah. In a rare audio sent to my attention by connections to Ayatollah
Broujerdi, he denounces Iran as a religious dictatorship instead of an Islamic
Republic outlines Khomeini’s deception and lies and calls for replacing the
fake Islam taking over Iranian’s hearts and minds with real Islam. Broujerdi
charged that the title velayat-e faqih assumed by Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei
is not valid. In a handwritten letter to Ayatollah Sistani in Iraq he appeals
for support in criticism of the regime.
The
Ayatollah then takes another brave step and clashes with Khomeini, explaining
who Khomeini really is and how he was made an instant Ayatollah. This is the
reason he was sentenced to death in a private court session in Zafaranieh,
Tehran along with 17 other family members.

Dear
Mr. Mohammad Elbaradei
The
head of the International Atomic Energy Agency;
With
hello and respect
Dear
principle; world's fear about nuclear improvement in Iran is a right feeling
because heads of government, here, do not attend to human rights; they ignore
all humane, divine and conscientious cautions. In this country people do not
have any values or degrees and freedom is Iranian people's gone wish. The most
terrible tragedy of suppression, terrifying and violence has been played in
this land. Independent religious leader of I ran, Seyyed Hossein Kazemeini
Boroujerdi, by the sin of declaring his disagreement with "revolution
religion" and also apolitical religious advertisements (evangelism) is
about one year that is in the worst spiritual and physical condition. He is
under medieval tortures in frightful sections in Evin prison. This leader, who
is against of mixing religion and policy, with his family and many of his
followers have been under attacks of governmental forces which he has lost some
of his relatives because of shooting and poison gases. In this one year all
world's juridical institutions and world's important assemblies have been
informed about these terrible and bloody happenings. Ayatollah Boroujerdi,
himself, had sent letters to United Nations and Europe Parliament and even Pope
Benedict the Sixteenth about warning affairs in religious human rights but
unfortunately the result had been Justin a level of initial and propaganda
convictions and not any basic action for making Iranian people free from being
under cruelty with the title of religion has not been done, therefore I
request, for the sake of respect to human under cruelty in Iran, recalling
Iran's responsible about their duties in respect to human rights from you and
also want you to use international supports, please.

A claim of tradition
Kazemeini Boroujerdi first took a public stance
against the ruling clerics in 1994. Until then he had kept his defiance
private. But as he witnessed the loss of respect for religion - caused both by
worsening economic and social conditions and the pervasive institutional and
financial corruption that benefited senior officials and their relatives - he
decided to act. It happened when - as he led the celebration prayers to mark
the end of the holy month of Ramadan, and in the tradition of the eighth Shi'a imam, imam Reza - he
dressed himself in a white shroud and carried a sword as a sign of protest
against the injustice of the clerics in power.
The problems that he identified then have persisted.
Despite hundreds of billions of dollars in oil revenue, the per-capita income
of Iranians today is 30% less than in 1978 - the year preceding the revolution.
Unemployment is high and inflation rampant. According to Jahangir Amuzegar,
the distinguished Iranian economist and former member of the International
Monetary Fund's executive board, the list of nationwide social ills is getting
longer by the year; it reportedly encompasses twenty-five categories, including
violent crime, drug addiction, abused children, runaway girls, dysfunctional
families, increasing divorce rates, growing prostitution, rising suicides, and
even slave-trading.
Kazemeini Boroujerdi insists: "the most afflicted
victim of this theocracy has been God. Injustices perpetrated by the ruling
clerics in the name of God have forced people to turn away from Him in
droves."
Between 1994 and 2001, the defiant ayatollah was
summoned on numerous occasions before the special court for the clergy. This
court was established in 1987, and is charged (according to Amnesty International)
"with investigating and trying crimes such as counter-revolution,
corruption, immorality, unlawful acts, anything which might damage the prestige
of the clergy and acts committed by pseudo-clergy." Boroujerdi has been
arrested, imprisoned and tortured on numerous occasions, and his mosque has
been expropriated. Nevertheless, each time he was released he continued leading
prayers from his home; and as the number of his adherents increased, he began
to deliver his sermons at his father's mosque, Masjid Nour.
Kazemeini's father, Ayatollah Seyyed Mohammad Ali
Kazemeini Boroujerdi, was a well-known figure in pre-revolutionary Tehran for
more than fifty years. Along with many of his contemporaries, and like his son,
he condemned the theocracy in Iran.
The older ayatollah died under suspicious
circumstances whilst in hospital in 2002. His followers secretly buried his
body in Masjid Nour, which then became a focal prayer-point for the believers
and another point of contention with the regime. This mosque too was
expropriated and the grave of the older ayatollah was desecrated.
On 21 September 2006, Kazemeini Boroujerdi was told in
no uncertain terms that according to orders issued by Ayatollah Ali Khamenei,
the supreme leader, he had to move his father's grave to a location outside of
Tehran. He was threatened that unless he abided by the order, the Masjid Nour
would be destroyed and replaced with a shopping-mall.
A call to the world
Despite being monitored and put under pressure, the
defiant ayatollah has succeeded in spreading his message across a wider field.
His followers come from all walks of life and political beliefs. By July 2006
he was communicating with them via 100 land and mobile lines, and had begun
leading prayers in stadiums which could accommodate the many who wished to
worship with him.
On 7 September, a representative of Gholamhussein Mohseni Ezhei, Iran's
minister of information, visited the defiant ayatollah. During the meeting -
which included heated exchanges - the ayatollah was ordered to either present
himself before the special court of clergy or face dire consequences.
Kazemeini Boroujerdi protests: "the regime is
adamant that either people adhere to political Islam or be jailed, exiled or
killed. Its behaviour is no different from that of Osama bin Laden or Mullah
Omar."
Now, the ayatollah is appealing to Pope Benedict XVI,
Kofi Annan and Javier Solana for assistance. "This is not about me. It is
about the freedom of worship. We hope that the international community supports
Iranians' right to follow their traditional faith. We pray for the day when the
United Nations Security Council passes a resolution in support of freedom of
religion in Iran."
Ayatollah
Kazemeini Boroujerdi insists that his demands are not political but rather
humanitarian. "I do not wish to get involved in politics. But at a time
when Iran is engulfed in so much chaos, the regime has to realise that now is
not the time to create yet another crisis."

28 September 2006, 8 am, Avesta Street, Tehran: seven women and thirty-four men, aged between 23 and 60, leave the modest house after having spent another cold night in its courtyard guarding Ayatollah Sayyid Hossein Kazemeini Boroujerdi - a cleric who has become a thorn in the side of the ruling ayatollahs in Iran.
Unbeknownst to them, they are each followed by a number of plain-clothed agents and security officers.
Once they reach their individual destinations, they are ambushed separately and taken to section 209 of Evin prison.
Protest among Ayatollah Boroujerdi's devotees
A further thirty-three people were arrested the following day. These seventy-four individuals are among hundreds of followers and supporters who have been shielding the ayatollah from arrest by the security forces since 30 July, when his house was attacked, his relatives arrested and tortured for twenty-one days in Evin prison.
Indeed the security forces returned to the house on 3 August to arrest the holy man himself. But the ayatollah's devotees forced them to retreat.
Ayatollah Sayyid Hossein Kazemeini Boroujerdi, born in Tehran and educated in Qom, is the author of numerous books and treatises on ethics, spirituality and the Qur'an. The ayatollah adheres to the official state religion in Iran, "twelver" Ja'fari Shi'a Islam.
This form of Shi'ism is founded on the concept of the twelve imams who were the rightful spiritual and political leaders of Muslims following the death of the Prophet Mohammed.
It is believed that the twelfth (or "hidden") imam, known as the Mahdi, lives in "occultation" but will one day return and resume the leadership of the faithful. Until that moment arrives, Bouroujerdi and fellow traditional Shi'a believe that political and religious authority should remain separated.
Kazemeini Boroujerdi, speaking under conditions of siege, maintains: "There is only one individual who has not erred and has no flaws. He is the lord of the age, the imam Mahdi. Only he has the legitimate competence to rule and pass judgment."
In other words, in the absence of the Mahdi, a theocracy such as the one ruling Iran today is illegitimate both ideologically and theologically, and as such all religious laws are null and void.
In fact, many Shi'a religious leaders and their followers in Iran have opposed the fundamental tenets of the present political system, established following the 1979 revolution. As a result, they have been imprisoned, tortured, publicly humiliated and put under house arrest. For many years little was known outside religious circles about the treatment inflicted on these individuals.
Meanwhile, as divisions between the traditional religious hierarchy and those in power intensified, the wider public gradually became aware of this schism, turned away from the state's prescribed version of Islam and took increasing refuge in traditional Shi'a Islam.

Rising popularity of,
and opposition to, Borujerdi
By Amir Taheri
Gulf News
October 17, 2006
By Amir Taheri, Special to Gulf News
For the past two months a tree-lined back alley in a quiet corner
of Tehran has been transformed into the scene of what looks like a daily
carnival. Each morning busloads of men sporting bushy beards and women clad in
black overall hijab arrive before sunrise to perform the first of their five
daily prayers in the courtyard of a villa known as Manzel Agha (The Master's
Abode). Once the prayers end, the crowd starts shouting slogans against the
rulers of the Islamic republic, starting with "Supreme Guide" Ali
Khamenei. Often, people from the neighbourhood join the demonstration that
invariably ends with police intervention and dozens of arrests.
"The
Master" whose abode has become a sort of shrine for the religious
opponents of the Islamic republic is one Mohammad Hussain Kazemaini Borujerdi,
a Shiite cleric in his fifties. To the authorities he is nothing hut a
troublemaker wearing a black turban. His followers, however, refer to him as
Grand Ayatollah and claim that he is in frequent contact with the "Hidden
Imam", who, according to Shiites, went into hiding in 940 and is expected
to return to preside over the end of the world.
Iran's leadership is particularly annoyed at Borujerdi because he
attracts the same type of people who swept the late Ayatollah Khomeini to power
in 1979.
Borujerdi's supporters claim that their leader has received
specific instructions from the Hidden Imam to lead a campaign aimed at "separating
religion from politics".
Their argument is based on a classical Shiite theological position
that maintains that all governments formed in the absence of the Hidden Imam are
"oppressive and illegitimate". According to that doctrine all that
Shiites must do during the absence of the Imam is to tolerate the government in
place, cooperate with it to the strict minimum necessary, but never pay taxes
to it or feel any loyalty towards it. In the absence of the Imam, government is
nothing but a necessary and temporary evil.
Contradiction
This classical Shiite doctrine, shared by more than 90 per cent of
Shiite clerics since the 16th century, is in direct contradiction with the
ideological matrix of the Khomeinist regime. Khomeinism is an innovation (bid'aa)
in Shiism insofar as it claims that a mullah bearing the title of Faqih Al Wali
(custodian jurisconsult) must rule on behalf of God, thus circumventing the
Hidden Imam. The case for the Khomeinist doctrine was most cogently put
recently by Ayatollah Ali Akbar Meshkini, the powerful president of the
Assembly of Experts that chooses the Faqih Al Wali.
"The Islamic republic is a continuation of God on
earth," Meshkini said. "Thus any disobedience of its rules amounts to
a revolt against God."
Most Shiite theologians find Mehskini's view, which reflects the
official doctrine of the Islamic republic, as scandalous. Going further,
Borujerdi describes that doctrine as a form of shirk (associating others with
God).
Borujerdi, who was taken into custody recently, is not alone in
arguing that Shiism provides for a separation of religion and government. His
view is shared by more eminent theologians such as Grand Ayatollah Ali Mohammad
Al Sistani in Najaf, Grand Ayatollah Hassan Qomi Tabatabi in Mash'had and Grand
Ayatollah Hussain Ali Montazeri and Ayatollah Hassan San'ei in Qom.
The doctrine of separation does not mean that religion has no role
in society. On the contrary, clerics such as Borujerdi believe that the
mullahs, once they have distanced themselves from day-to-day politics and
governmental duties, would be in a stronger position to offer society the moral
guidance that no secular authority can provide. In their system the clergy is a
watchdog, overseeing the government and, when and if necessary, taking it to
task or even calling for its overthrow.
It is virtually impossible to know what a majority of Iran's
estimated 300,000 mullahs think about this debate. However, one thing is
certain: not a single prominent Shiite cleric today is prepared to endorse the
Khomeinist doctrine publicly and unequivocally. Some mid-ranking ayatollahs
such as Fadil Lenkorani and Makarem Shirazi flirt with Khomeinism, largely for
personal reasons but are not prepared to acknowledge the current "supreme
guide" as anything but a political figure. The best-known mullahs within
the regime, the "supreme guide" Ali Khamenei and the two former
presidents, Hashemi Rafsanjani and Mohammad Khatami, are recognised as
politicians with a clerical background, but never as religious authorities.
Often portrayed as a theocracy, the Islamic republic is, in fact,
a form of oriental despotism with a turban. A majority of Shiite clerics are
opposed to the regime and its ideology. This is why proportionally speaking
there are more mullahs in prison in Iran than other social strata.
The showdown between the two views will take place in December
when a new Assembly of Experts is elected. The assembly is a crucial organ of
the regime because it can dismiss the current "supreme guide" and
pick a new one. It could also propose amending the constitution to end the
organic link that Khomeini established between the mosque and the state. Such a
separation is anathema to political mullahs such as Khamenei, Rafsanjani and
Khatami.
In the meantime each of the factions involved in the power
struggle is trying to claim the Hidden Imam for itself.
Iran's President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad claims he receives periodical
instructions from Imam Mehdi while Borujerdi's associates insist that the
Hidden Imam has chosen him as a mouthpiece.

25 October 06 - Tehran’s popular police chief, Brigadier General
Morteza Talai, has resigned in protest over the arrest of a well-known
religious leader. Talai, whose resignation was finally accepted by the Chief
Commander of Law Enforcement Forces, last week, reportedly quit office over the
Oct. 8 arrest of Ayatollah Seyed Hossein Kazemeini Boroujerdi and some 300 of
his loyal followers.
TEHRAN, Oct 24 (IPS) -
A letter from deputy
intelligence minister to the Supreme Leader, Ayatollah Khamenei, that has found
its way to some Iranian websites, shows that the police chief warned he would
resign if Kazemeini and his armed followers, who had barricaded themselves in
and around the cleric’s residence in a Tehran district, were treated harshly.
The crisis could have
been resolved through negotiations but instead was handled roughly by forces
other than those under Talai’s command. It turned into a standoff lasting
several days between the dissident cleric’s followers and the police,
plainclothesmen and vigilantes, creating a tense situation.
After clashes broke out
between the supporters and the vigilantes, security forces moved in. ’’There
were clashes between the people and the cult members. Law enforcement forces
intervened to prevent unpredictable mishaps,’’ a security official of the
Tehran local administration was reported by the Islamic Republic News Agency
(IRNA) as saying.
Protestors attacked with teargas
But more sympathetic
reports said the protestors were first attacked with teargas by the vigilantes
and militia and that Kazemeini’s followers retaliated by taking hostages from
among the plainclothesmen and the militia — rather than from among people on
the street as the official version would have it.
Following the arrests of
41 of his followers earlier, Kazemeini had written letters of protest to Kofi
Annan, Xavier Solana and the Pope as well as to Ayatollah Khamenei and chief
justice Ayatollah Shahroudi.
In his letter to the
Pope, Kazemeini had claimed to be the leader of the biggest independent
religious society in Iran and of having been harassed by the Islamic regime for
years for advocating separation of religion and state.
"My only crime is
that I don’t want to mix politics with religion and lose my life in the
hereafter for the sake of life in this world," he wrote in his letter to
the Pope. "My house has been under siege by government forces for 50 days
now. The orders to shoot me and my followers have been issued," he wrote,
adding that his followers were being tortured in prison.
Wrote letter to Pope
"Judging from
letters to the Pope and U.N. Secretary General, the Ayatollah (Kazemeini) seems
to have had an exaggerated view of his mission or faulty advice from those
around him because he claimed the crackdown on satellites dishes in Iran, a
couple of months ago, was intended to block his voice from reaching the public
or that the U.N. Security Council was going to issue a resolution following his
letter to the Secretary General," an observer in Tehran, who did not want
to be named, told IPS.
"Until a few months
ago, he had been quite obscure and known only to a small group of followers in
a poor southern Tehran district where his father had also preached in a mosque.
He preached to a very large congregation at a stadium a few months ago after
which he was summoned to the Special Court for the Clergy. After the arrests of
a number of his followers, to which Amnesty International also reacted, he
became famous,’’ the observer added.
Montazeri still under house arrest
Another dissident cleric,
the Grand Ayatollah Hossein Ali Montazeri, once chosen to succeed Ayatollah
Khomeini, has been living under house arrest for several years now. Montazeri
still commands a large following in the country.
Throughout the country
the clergy has come under strict regime control. All Friday prayer leaders are
appointed by the state and any opposition to the state by clerics, politically
or religiously, is severely punished by the Special Court for the Clergy, an
extra-constitutional body that tries clergymen and has the power to sentence
them to anything from defrocking to death. Kazemeini, who had earlier refused
to attend a hearing of the same, was arrested under a warrant issued by that
court.
Charges brought against
Kazemeini are yet to be officially announced. "I have been accused of
claiming to be the 12th Imam or his representative but that is not true,’’
‘Iranews’ quoted him as saying. "I only defend the traditional religion.’’
In an editorial that
followed Kazemeini’s arrest, the conservative ‘Jomhuri Eslami’ newspaper called
him a fraud who wanted to be known as a representative and medium of the ‘Imam
in Occultation’. The paper also questioned his religious credentials and warned
against "deviatory religious trends in the Islamic and revolutionary society
of Iran."
Belief in the return of
Imam Mahdi, the 12th Imam, is a fundamental tenet among Shiites who hold that
he went into occultation by the order of God and that he will re-emerge on the
judgement day to save the world. Shiites have been awaiting that for nearly
twelve centuries now.

Appeal
IRAN: Shi’a cleric may face death sentence
Appeal
status: Active
Appeal
started: July 2007
Shi’a
cleric Ayatollah Sayed Hossein Kazemeyni Boroujerdi and 17 of his supporters
reportedly appeared before the Special Court for the Clergy (SCC) on 10 June.
Despite denials, credible reports suggest that he was sentenced to death.
During a court session in March, an eyewitness said he was bleeding from the
mouth, coughing up blood and unable to walk upright.
Currently detained in Evin Prison, he went on hunger strike on 19 February in
protest at the appalling conditions there and at the authorities’ refusal to
let him visit his dying mother and later attend her funeral. He was allegedly
tortured during interrogation and has been denied access to medical treatment.
He was arrested at his home in Tehran on 8 October 2006, along with more than
300 of his followers. His 80-year-old mother was among those arrested and was
allegedly ill-treated while in detention. The arrests took place during violent
clashes with security forces. Most or all of those arrested are thought to have
been released.
Ayatollah Sayed Hossein Kazemeyni Boroujerdi has reportedly been charged with
30 offences, including “waging war against God”, having links with
anti-revolutionaries and spies, and “acting against state security”. He has had
no access to legal representation and is said not to know “what they want from
him”. He reportedly advocates the separation of religion from the political
basis of the state, which is a central part of Iran’s constitution.
The SCC operates outside the framework of the judiciary and is under the direct
control of the Supreme Leader. Established in 1987 by Ayatollah Khomeini to try
members of the Shi’a religious establishment in Iran, its procedures fall short
of international standards for fair trial and is widely considered
illegitimate. The court can hand down sentences including flogging and the
death penalty.
Please write, urging the authorities to clarify reports that Ayatollah Sayed
Hossein Kazemeyni Boroujerdi has been sentenced to death and, if so, to take
steps immediately to overturn this sentence and release him unless he is to be
charged with a recognizably criminal offence and tried promptly and fairly.
Call for a prompt and impartial investigation into allegations that he may have
been tortured and, if so, for those responsible to be brought to justice.

262/06 Arbitrary arrest/fear for safety/possible prisoners of conscience
IRAN Ayatollah Sayed Hossein Kazemeyni Boroujerdi (m), Shia cleric
At least 40 people, aged 23 – 60
At
least 41 followers of Shia cleric Ayatollah Sayed Hossein Kazemeyni Boroujerdi
were reportedly arrested in the courtyard of his house in Tehran during the
morning of 28 September. They are thought to have been taken to Section 209 of
Evin Prison in Tehran, which is run by the Ministry of Intelligence. One was
reportedly later released. There are fears that the Ayatollah may be at risk of
imminent arrest.
On 30 June 2006 the Ayatollah conducted a large religious ceremony at the
Shahid Keshvari stadium in Tehran. On 30 July, the security forces reportedly
arrested several of his family and followers at their homes. The security
forces also reportedly tried to arrest the Ayatollah himself, but were prevented
from doing so by his followers.
Those arrested were taken to Section 209 of Evin Prison where they were held
for about three weeks. Some may have been tortured, including Nader Khodadad,
who is said to have suffered a heart attack possibly as a result and was
transferred to the Taleqani hospital in Tehran. One of those detained told
Amnesty International, "I was arrested at home by armed men who broke down
my door. I was taken to Section 209, where I was held in solitary confinement
for 22 days. I was not even allowed to telephone my family to let them know
where I was. I was threatened although I was not physically harmed. I was not
even allowed to have any reading glasses, so I could not read. I was accused of
being a spy for European countries. I was eventually released after being taken
to the Special Court for the Clergy. I did not have a lawyer, it was just a
judge, the Etela’at (Ministry of Intelligence) and me.
They
summoned someone to come for me, and after paying a large bail sum, I was
released". On 3 August, the security forces reportedly tried to arrest the
Ayatollah but were again repelled by his followers. They reportedly took up
positions outside the house, where they have remained since. On 7 September,
representatives of the Special Court for the Clergy visited the Ayatollah in
his house and told him to appear before the Prosecutor for the Special Court
for the Clergy, which he refused to do. Between 18 and 21 September, the
Ayatollah sent appeals to Council of Europe Secretary General Javier Solana
(which can be read in Persian at (http://www.irancpi.net/pdf/kazemeiniBroujerdi-naderzahedi.pdf),
the Pope and UN Secretary General Kofi Annan. In his letter to Javier Solana,
the Ayatollah described his history of persecution and the recent events and
said he feared he would be killed if he went to the Special Court for the
Clergy as instructed. Around the same time, another of his followers, Ms
Nourbaksh, was reportedly arrested and taken to an unknown place of detention,
possibly Section 209 of Evin Prison.
BACKGROUND INFORMATION
Ayatollah
Sayed Hossein Kazemeyni Boroujerdi reportedly advocates the separation of
religion from the political basis of the state. Since 1994 he says he has been
summoned repeatedly before the Special Court for the Clergy and has been
detained in Towhid and Evin Prisons. He has reportedly developed heart and
kidney problems as a result of torture. His father was a prominent cleric who
refused to accept the principle of velayat-e faqih (rule of the [Islamic]
jurisconsult, or of those who know Islamic law), on which the Islamic Republic
of Iran is based. He died in 2002 and his grave in the Masjed-e Nour mosque in
Tehran has reportedly been desecrated and the mosque taken over by the state.
The
Special Court for the Clergy, which operates outside the framework of the
judiciary, was established in 1987 by Ayatollah Khomeini to try members of the
Shi’a religious establishment in Iran. Its procedures fall short of
international standards for fair trial: among other things, defendants can only
be represented by clergymen nominated by the court, who are not required to be
legally qualified, and defendants may not have a full right of appeal. The court
can hand down sentences including flogging and the death penalty.

people (note revised number)
Sh'ia
cleric Ayatollah Sayed Hossein Kazemeyni Boroujerdi was arrested at his home in
Tehran on 8 October, along with an unknown number, possibly around 300, of his
followers. The arrests took place during violent clashes with security forces.
It is believed that those arrested are detained in Evin Prison in Tehran.
At least 41 followers of Ayatollah Sayed Hossein Kazemeyni Boroujerdi were
reportedly arrested in the courtyard of his house in Tehran during the morning
of 28 September. They are thought to have been taken to Section 209 of Evin
Prison in Tehran, which is run by the Ministry of Intelligence. The following
day, up to 35 others were reportedly arrested, and by 2 October, at least 118
of his followers were said to have been detained. Their names are known to
Amnesty International.
On the night of 4 and 5 October, security forces reportedly attacked the
Ayatollah's house, but were forced back by his followers. A further attack was
launched on 7 October, during which the Ayatollah’s supporters are reported to
have fought the security forces with swords, sticks and other implements. The
Ayatollah’s followers are said to have captured several members of the security
forces but released them later, after photographing their identity cards.
Following
the arrests, the Deputy Governor-General of Tehran for Political and Social
Affairs told the Iranian Labour News Agency, "For some time, a number of
sectarian elements had engaged in a series of operation s in Tehran… disturbing
citizens and causing traffic problems for the people … On Wednesday night, a
number of people who were crossing the road were seized by this group, only to
be freed after being beaten up… Since Saturday, a number of thugs from Tehran
and other towns, recruited by the group, had embarked on blocking the streets
leading to the district. They then initiated an attack on the Law-Enforcement
Force [LEF, Iran’s police], throwing Molotov cocktails and using over a thousand
cold weapons, knives, daggers and swords. At first, the LEF avoided violence,
but the group embarked on taking LEF forces hostage and sought to wreak havoc
by setting tyres ablaze and throwing acid at some people… The LEF was left with
no option but to act, and in very little time arrested the armed men, seized
their weapons and handed them over to the judicial authorities.
They
also discovered hundreds of cold weapons and several firearms and
grenades". The Deputy Governor-General said there were no precise figures
on the number of those arrested, and said "I should like to point out that
the gentleman is not an ayatollah. Mr Boroujerdi, who had unfortunately caused
the incident owing to his wilful actions, has also been arrested."
On
10 October, an unattributed article entitled "On the plot of
Kazemeyni-Boroujerdi; Propagating Islam with the assistance of the BBC and
CIA" appeared in the Iranian newspaper Keyhan. The article described the
incident as part of a plot by Western intelligence services such as those of
the USA, Israel and the UK to use ethnic and religious minorities to damage
Iran, and referred to the fact that the Ayatollah had made telephone calls to
foreign radio stations such as the Persian-language service of Radio Free
Europe (Radio Farda) and the British Broadcasting Corporation (BBC) before his
arrest.
On
11 October, another report in Keyhan quoted LEF Brigadier-General Esma’il
Ahmadi Moghaddam as stating that nine people had been taken hostage, two
officers were shot, and more than 300 people, including "this person"
were arrested and taken to Evin Prison.

Most of the followers of Shi'a cleric Ayatollah Sayed Hossein

released, some on bail. However, the Ayatollah himself and at least 22 of his
followers (whose names are known to Amnesty International) are still detained
in Section 209 of Evin Prison. There are unconfirmed reports that Ayatollah
Sayed Hossein Kazemeyni Boroujerdi may have suffered a heart attack and been
hospitalised for at least three days on or around 24 October. He is now
believed to be in Evin Prison, where it is feared he may not be receiving
adequate medical treatment.
His family looked for him in various Tehran hospitals, without
success. He may have been admitted under a different name. It is not clear
whether he, or any of the others who are still detained, have been allowed
visits by their families or lawyers.
One of those who has since been released has described being
tear-gassed and shocked with an electroshock weapon during arrest and said that
among those detained were the Ayatollah’s 80-year-old mother and six-month-old
grandson. Those arrested were taken to Evin Prison, and interrogated. Personal
property such as mobile phones has not yet been returned to those who have been
released.
At least 118 followers of the Ayatollah were arrested between 28
September and 2 October. The Ayatollah himself was arrested on 8 October,
together with at least 300 other followers, in violent clashes with the

Shi'a cleric Ayatollah Sayed Hossein Kazemeyni Boroujerdi reportedly appeared
before the Special Court for the Clergy (SCC) between 18 and 20 March.
According to an eyewitness, he appeared to be bleeding from his mouth, and
possibly occasionally coughing up blood. He was reportedly unable to walk
upright.
Ayatollah
Sayed Hossein Kazemeyni Boroujerdi's health has deteriorated partially as a
result of a hunger strike which he started on 19 February in Section 209 of
Evin Prison in Tehran, and was detained in a cold cell without a heater during
the winter months. It is not known whether he is continuing with his hunger
strike. In addition, he allegedly suffered torture and ill-treatment during
interrogation. During his detention at Evin Prison he has been denied
permission to seek treatment at the prison’s medical facility.
Ayatollah
Sayed Hossein Kazemeyni Boroujerdi began his hunger strike in protest at the
conditions of his detention, and at the authorities’ refusal to grant him
temporary leave from prison to visit his dying mother prior to her death on 14
February 2007 and to attend her funeral.
Ayatollah
Sayed Hossein Kazemeyni Boroujerdi’s 80-year-old mother was amongst hundreds of
followers and supporters of the cleric arrested in late September and early
October 2006 and detained in Evin Prison. Amnesty International has now learnt
that she was ill-treated in detention. To Amnesty International's knowledge,
most or all of the detainees were later released. Four other followers of
Ayatollah Kazemeyni Boroujerdi were reportedly also arrested around 18 February
2007. Their names are not known to Amnesty International and no further details
are available to Amnesty International in connection with these reports.
Ayatollah
Sayed Hossein Kazemeyni Boroujerdi reportedly appeared at a hearing before the
SCC on or around 14 February. According to reports, he may have been charged
with "acting against state security." He had no access to legal
representation and he has reportedly complained that he does not know
"what they want from him". His bail was allegedly set at five billion
Iranian Rials (about $US 564,000). He is reportedly unable to pay this sum.
On 18 February, the cleric's eldest son, Sayed Mahdi Kazemeyni Boroujerdi, was
arrested and was detained in Section 209 of Evin Prison, although Amnesty
International is not aware of the reasons for his reported detention. Prior to
this, since January 2007, both he and another son, Sayed Mohammad, had been
summoned several times to appear before the SCC for questioning, allegedly in
connection with the activities of their father. On 20 February, Ayatollah Sayed
Hossein Kazemeyni Boroujerdi's wife – whose name is not known to Amnesty
International, was also summoned to appear before the SCC.
On 13 March, an ‘interview’ with Ayatollah Sayed Hossein Kazemeyni Boroujerdi
was reportedly shown on local television in Iran. Apparently filmed in Evin
Prison, where there is a specially equipped room for such programmes, and
entitled ‘Lying Claims’, he was wearing a prison uniform. Amnesty International
was told that in the programme Ayatollah Sayed Hossein Kazemeyni Boroujerdi
referred to his ‘lies’ and how his poor followers believed these and how most
of his followers were women. Amnesty International was also told that his
behaviour and manner of speaking made it clear that he was under great stress.

There are unconfirmed reports that Ayatollah Hossein Kazemeyni

June, after an unfair and closed trial, and that six of his followers, named
above, were sentenced to death on 13 June.
However, on 13 June an official from the public relations office of the SCC
reportedly told at least two news agencies in Iran that no death sentence had
been issued and that examination of the case against Ayatollah Sayed Hossein
Kazemeyni Boroujerdi was continuing; he told the Iranian Students News Agency
(ISNA) that the sentence would possibly be issued within the next two months.
The unconfirmed reports say Ayatollah Boroujerdi was found guilty
of at least 30 charges, including "waging war against God"
(Moharebeh), for which the punishment is death; acts against national security;
publicly calling political leadership by the clergy (Velayat-e Faqih) unlawful;
having links with anti-revolutionaries and spies; and using the term
"religious dictatorship" instead of "Islamic Republic" in
public discourse and radio interviews. A
further 62 of the Ayatollah's followers are reportedly due to be tried on 17
June. It is feared some or all may also face the death penalty.
Ayatollah Boroujerdi, who suffers from Parkinson's disease,
diabetes, high blood pressure and heart problems, reportedly appeared frail at
his court appearance, increasing concerns that his treatment in custody is
putting his liufe in danger. He is said to be detained in Section 209 of Evin
Prison, where he has been denied permission to seek treatment at the prison's
medical facility. Ayatollah Boroujerdi went on hunger strike on 19 February in

Ayatollah Boroujerdi is reported to be gravely ill, and has been
transferred from Evin prison to hospital. All but two of his detained followers
have been released from prison.
Ayatollah Boroujerdi was arrested at his home in Tehran on 8 October 2006, along with more
than 300 of his followers, during violent clashes with the security forces. His
80-year-old mother was among those arrested and was allegedly ill-treated.
Held in Tehran’s
Evin prison since his arrest, Ayatollah Boroujerdi suffers from Parkinson’s
disease, diabetes, high blood pressure and heart problems. He had reportedly
been denied permission to seek treatment at the prison’s medical facility. He
began a hunger strike on 22 July, and was transferred to hospital the next day.
It is not known whether he is receiving adequate medical treatment in hospital.
Poor prison conditions, and torture and ill-treatment, have
reportedly led to a deterioration in Ayatollah Boroujerdi’s pre-existing
medical conditions, and his health has deteriorated severely in recent weeks.
His Parkinson's disease has apparently worsened, and he is suffering from
permanent shaking of his legs and hands, and falls over frequently. There are
unconfirmed reports that he suffered a heart attack before he was taken to
hospital. He has reportedly lost 30kg since he was arrested.
Ayatollah Boroujerdi has reportedly been tortured and ill-treated
on numerous occasions since his arrest. He is said to have been beaten, thrown
against a wall, and had cold water thrown on him when he is sleeping. It has
been alleged that photographs and videos were taken of him when he had been
forced to at least partially undress, which the authorities allegedly
threatened to distribute to force him to confess to a range of allegations and
make a statement of repentance.
On 20 July a letter was circulated to Iranian media outlets,
supposedly written by Ayatollah Boroujerdi. Containing self-criticism and
expressions of regret for his actions, the letter reportedly expressed
"repentance" and sought forgiveness from the Supreme Leader. Days
later he reportedly denied that he had written the letter, and suggested it had
been written by the Ministry of Intelligence.
Ayatollah Boroujerdi is believed to have had at least one court
hearing, on 13 June, which examined some 30 charges. These include "waging
war against God" (Moharebeh), for which the punishment is death; acts
against national security; publicly calling political leadership by clergy
(Velayat-e Faqih) unlawful; having links with anti-revolutionaries and spies;
and using the term "religious dictatorship" instead of "Islamic

of the Special Court
for the Clergy reportedly told at least two news agencies in Iran that
examination of the case against him was continuing, and told the Iranian
Students News Agency that the sentence would possibly be issued within the next
two months.
A further 62 of his followers were reportedly tried in June. All but two of
them have reportedly been released on bail, possibly to await their verdicts.

Iran
Shi’a cleric may face death sentence
Shi’a cleric Ayatollah Sayed Hossein Kazemeyni Boroujerdi and 17 of his
supporters reportedly appeared before the Special Court for the Clergy (SCC) on 10
June. Despite denials, credible reports suggest that he was sentenced to death.
During
a court session in March, an eyewitness said he was bleeding from the mouth,
coughing up blood and unable to walk upright.
Currently detained in Evin Prison, he went on hunger strike on 19 February in
protest at the appalling conditions there and at the authorities’ refusal to
let him visit his dying mother and later attend her funeral. He was allegedly
tortured during interrogation and has been denied access to medical treatment.
He was arrested at his home in Tehran
on 8 October 2006, along with more than 300 of his followers. His 80-year-old
mother was among those arrested and was allegedly ill-treated while in
detention. The arrests took place during violent clashes with security forces.
Most or all of those arrested are thought to have been released.
Ayatollah
Sayed Hossein Kazemeyni Boroujerdi has reportedly been charged with 30
offences, including "waging war against God", having links with
anti-revolutionaries and spies, and "acting against state security".
He has had no access to legal representation and is said not to know "what
they want from him". He reportedly advocates the separation of religion
from the political basis of the state, which is a central part of Iran’s
constitution.
The SCC operates outside the framework of the judiciary and is under the direct
control of the Supreme Leader. Established in 1987 by Ayatollah Khomeini to try
members of the Shi’a religious establishment in Iran, its procedures fall short
of international standards for fair trial and is widely considered illegitimate.
The court can hand down sentences including flogging and the death penalty.

"Call
to Bloggers" to stand up for freedom ahead of world meeting on future of
Internet
Urgent
appeal for Iranian blogger held incommunicado
Amnesty
International today issued a ‘Call to Bloggers’, asking them to get online and
stand up for freedom of expression on the internet. The organisation says this
is a critical time when fundamental rights – particularly freedom of expression
and privacy – are under threat from governments that want to control what their
citizens say, and what information they can access.
The call comes as the online world prepares to meet at the Internet Governance
Forum (IGF, Athens 30/10 – 2/11) to discuss the future of the internet. Amnesty
released a statement to the IGF today and is sending a delegation to ensure
that human rights are not sidelined and remain at the heart of the forum’s
discussions.
Amnesty’s
International's statement also coincides with an urgent appeal on behalf of a
blogger in Iran
who was detained this month. Kianoosh Sanjari was arrested earlier this month
while reporting on clashes between security forces and supporters of Shi'a
cleric Ayatollah Boroujerdi. He is being held incommunicado and Amnesty
International fears that he may be at risk of torture or ill-treatment. Sanjari
had allegedly gone to the home of Ayatollah Boroujerdi in the capital, Tehran, to prepare a
report on the clashes that were taking place there.
Steve Ballinger, part of Amnesty International’s delegation to the IGF, said:
“Freedom of expression online is a right, not a privilege – but it’s a right
that needs defending. We’re asking bloggers worldwide to show their solidarity
with web users in countries where they can face jail just for criticising the
government.
“The Internet Governance Forum needs to know that the online community is
bothered about free expression online and willing to stand up for it.”
Amnesty International is calling on governments and companies to ensure that
human rights – particularly the rights to freedom of expression, association
and the right to privacy – are respected and protected.
Steve Ballinger added:
“The
internet is a powerful force for human rights, enabling the free flow of ideas
and information around the world.
“But
some governments have sought to curtail this freedom. People have been locked
up just for expressing their views in an email or a website. Sites and blogs
have been shut down and firewalls built to prevent access to information.
Companies have restricted internet searches to stop people accessing
information that repressive governments don’t want them to see.
“Countries
and businesses have failed to respect, protect and promote the rights to
freedom of expression, association and privacy, and the rights of human rights
defenders.”
Yahoo!
via its Chinese partner company, Alibaba, has provided the Chinese authorities
with private and confidential information about its users that has been used to
convict and imprison journalists. It has also agreed to censor and deny access
to information. Microsoft shut down the blog of New York Times researcher Zhao
Jing on the basis of a Chinese government request. The company has also
admitted that it responds to directions from the Chinese government in
restricting users of MSN Spaces from using certain terms. Google has launched a
censored version of its international search engine in China.
Amnesty International is also highlighting the cases of prisoners of conscience,
imprisoned for the expression of their peaceful views online.
Chinese journalist Shi Tao used his Yahoo! account to email a US-based website
about an internal government directive instructing journalists how to handle
media coverage of the anniversary of the Tiananmen Square
crackdown. He was sentenced to 10 years in prison for "illegally providing
state secrets to foreign entities." Yahoo! provided information to the
government that was used in his prosecution.
Tunisian lawyer and human rights defender Mohammed Abbou is serving a three and
a half year prison sentence largely for publishing articles critical of the
Tunisian authorities on the internet.
Vietnamese
political dissident Truong Quoc Huy was first arrested in October 2005 with two
other young people after chatting on a democracy and human rights website. He
was held incommunicado for nine months then released, but on 18 August 2006 he
was rearrested in an internet cafe in Ho Chi Minh City, where he had logged on
to a chatroom. His whereabouts remain unknown and no charges have been
publicised.
Steve Ballinger said:
“We bring with us to the Internet Governance Forum the voices of thousands of
people who share our concerns and who have supported Amnesty’s irrepressible.info
campaign.
“We
are calling on governments to release prisoners who are held just for
expressing their peaceful views online, and to stop unwarranted censorship of
internet sites and searches.”
The organisation welcomed the opportunity presented by the IGF to raise concerns
with human rights and the internet.
Steve
Ballinger added:
“We
are looking forward to participating in the IGF, and being part of a process
that will protect human rights on the internet. Amnesty’s job in Athens will be
to ensure that human rights are not sidelined – they must be at the heart of
all the forum’s discussions.”

October 2006
Student activist and blogger Kianoosh Sanjari was arrested on 7 October whilst
reporting on clashes between security forces and supporters of Shi'a cleric
Ayatollah Sayed Hossein Kazemeyni Boroujerdi. Kianoosh Sanjari is being held
incommunicado at an unknown location and Amnesty International fears that he
may be at risk of torture or ill-treatment.
Kianoosh
Sanjari, a member of a group known as the United Students Front, had allegedly
gone to the home of Ayatollah Boroujerdi in the capital, Tehran, to prepare a
report on the clashes that were taking place there. He was reportedly arrested
along with scores of Ayatollah Boroujerdi’s supporters and transferred to an
unknown location.
Kianoosh Sanjari has been arrested several times in the past. When he was only
17 years old in July 1999 he was arrested during student-led demonstrations
against the closure of the newspaper Salam (Peace). He was subsequently held in
solitary confinement for many months. Prior to his recent arrest, he lived in Tehran and was reportedly
closely monitored by the authorities.
BACKGROUND INFORMATION
Sh'ia
cleric Ayatollah Sayed Hossein Kazemeyni Boroujerdi reportedly advocates the
separation of religion from the political basis of the state. He was arrested
at his home in Tehran
on 8 October 2006, along with an unknown number, possibly around 300, of his
followers. The arrests took place during violent clashes with security forces.
A total of around 418 of his followers are now thought to be in detention.

IRAN Kianoosh Sanjari (m) aged 24, student activist and blogger
Student activist Kianoosh Sanjari was released on 27 December on bail of 100
million touman (over US$100,000) by the Special Court for the Clergy. He is
believed to have been accused of "acting against state security" and
"propaganda against the system", although he does not yet appear to
have been formally charged. No date has been set for a trial to begin.
He had been arrested in Tehran on 8 October 2006 while reporting on clashes
between the security forces and supporters of Shi'a cleric Ayatollah Sayed
Hossein Kazemeyni Boroujerdi. Beaten with batons during his arrest, he was
taken to Section 209 of Evin Prison, which is run by the Ministry of
Intelligence, and held there until his release. He was not permitted to meet
his lawyer while he was in custody, and was not allowed to phone his family for
the first month. After the first month, he was permitted some family visits,
but these were supervised by an official.
Kianoosh Sanjari has thanked Amnesty International for its efforts. In a
posting on his blog dated 8 January 2007 (which can be read in Persian
at http://ks61.blogspot.com/2007/01/blog-post_08.html),
he thanked those who worked on his behalf and mentioned Amnesty International.
He also referred to a radio interview with Radio Farda
(http://www.radiofarda.com/Article/2007/01/08/f4_sanjari_release_iran.html)
in which he
escribed his detention in Section 209.
He said that during his first interrogation
session the interrogator slapped him very hard several times and told him that
he would be executed, which he believed was intended to put pressure on him to
confess. He said that because of the conditions of his release, he was unable
to describe everything that had happened while he was in custody.
According to Radio Farda, he had spent a month and a half in solitary
confinement, and said, "Keeping people in solitary confinement, in which
they have no contact with the outside world, is reckoned to be one of the worst
forms of torture ... Solitary confinement, which is at war with body and mind,
can be the most inhuman form of white torture for someone like me who has been
arrested solely for the crime of investigating the rights of citizens and
society." Kianoosh Sanjari went on to say that stories he had posted on
his website, which had been picked up by other news sites, such as the memorial
ceremony for Akbar Mohammadi, who died in prison following a hunger strike, and
also news regarding the situation of political prisoners, seemed to have been
the cause of "sensitivity" on the part of the authorities.
BACKGROUND INFORMATION
Kianoosh Sanjari has been arrested at least four
times, the first time when he was only 17. He was held in various detention
centres, including Prison 59, and Section 325 of Evin Prison, which are both
controlled by the Revolutionary Guards, and section 209 of Evin Prison,
controlled by the Ministry of Intelligence. On one occasion he was sentenced to
a year’s imprisonment by Branch 26 of the Revolutionary Court after being accused
of student activities and being a spokesman for the United Student Front.
Students are a politically active section of society in Iran, and are
frequently targeted by the authorities for abuses including arbitrary arrest
and denial of the right to continue their studies.
"White torture" is a term used by Iranians to describe prolonged
periods of solitary confinement, often in detention centres outside the control
of the prison authorities, including Section 209 of Evin Prison. Some of those
who have experienced it have described it as being far worse than physical
abuse.

Iran
/ Death Penalty
Arbitrary death sentences against prisoners
of conscience
The International
Federation for Human Rights (FIDH) and the Iranian League for the Defence of
Human Rights (LDDHI) express their deep concern at the arbitrary detention and
sentencing of Ayatollah Mohammad Hossein Kazemeini Boroujerdi and a group of
his followers in the Islamic Republic of Iran. According to information
received, Ayatollah Kazemeini Boroujerdi was tried before the Special Clerical Court,
in which he was denied legal counsel, and sentenced to death on June 10, 2007.
Ayatollah Kazemeini
Boroujerdi was arrested on October 8, 2006 and has been imprisoned since then.
Hundreds of his followers were arrested in the weeks preceding his arrest, but
most of them were later released. For much of the nine months of his
imprisonment, Ayatollah Kazemeini Boroujerdi was reportedly not informed of the
charges against him, while also being denied access to legal counsel. Despite
the fact that Iranian human rights lawyer Shirin Ebadi and the Center for Human
Rights Defenders (CHRD) have offered to represent Ayatollah Kazemeini
Boroujerdi, he has been denied his right to contact a lawyer, as the Special Clerical Court
only accepts the legal credentials of clergy members. The denial of this
fundamental human right is a violation of the International Covenant on Civil
and Political Rights, to which Iran
is a party.
Indeed, the Special Clerical Court
itself stands outside of the legal framework of the Islamic Republic of Iran,
as it is not provided for by any legislation. Thus, Kazemeini Boroujerdi’s
imprisonment, trial, and sentencing, while all in contravention of
international human rights law, also violate Iranian law. Ayatollah Kazemeini
Boroujerdi espouses the belief that religion and politics should be separate,
and thus calls into question the foundations of the Islamic Republic of Iran.
The sentences pronounced against Ayatollah Kazemeini Boroujerdi and his followers
are thus in violation of the freedom of opinion, making them prisoners of
conscience.
In addition to being
denied any legal counsel and information about the charges brought against him,
Ayatollah Kazemeini Boroujerdi has been denied any contact with his family,
despite the fact that his mother reportedly fell ill and died during his
imprisonment. At the same time, he is reportedly suffering from Parkinson’s
disease, and has been denied medical treatment. According to the information
available, Ayatollah Kazemeini Boroujerdi, forced to defend himself before the
Special Clerical Court, was too ill to stand upright and had trouble speaking
clearly. After unfair and seemingly arbitrary proceedings, Kazemeini and a
reported 17 others were sentenced to death. The date of their executions
remains unknown.
Due to the lack of
transparency of the Iranian judiciary, especially regarding the Special
Clerical Court, it is impossible to obtain confirmation of this information; in
a case involving the execution of 18 people for their religious and political
beliefs, this is particularly alarming and in complete violation of the Iranian
government’s international obligations.
FIDH and LDDHI reiterate
their concern for the physical health and psychological integrity of Ayatollah
Kazemeini Boroujerdi and his followers, as well as its dismay at their
treatment, notably their imprisonment without medical attention or legal
support for nine months, the absence of any representation before an illegal
court and their sentencing to death for their opinions. Since the Special Clerical Court
is not provided for in Iranian law and the fair trial guarantees have been
blatantly violated, any attempt to carry out the sentences will amount to
arbitrary execution. FIDH and LDDHI call on the Iranian authorities to reverse
all relevant sentences immediately and release these prisoners of conscience
without delay, in respect of the international human rights obligations binding
upon the Islamic Republic of Iran.

A report about certain cases of human rights violation
against of popular and contrary to political religion leader in Iran, Ayatollah
Seyyed Hossein Kazemeini Boroujerdi :
After hello and ever respects
Encirclement and attack to Ayatollah Boroujerdi was on 7
October 2006 and using different kinds of firearms and tear gases … which
ended up in injuring many members of his assistants and capturing hundreds men.
His mother after tortures in Evin prison and catching diseases died in hospital
during treatment stages. Deprivation of the right of having lawyer, holding his
closed courts in June and July 2007, not allowing the presence of news agencies
representatives in his courts, showing his artificial confession films in
channel 1, channel 2, channel 3 and channel 6 of Radio and Television
Organization of Iran, censorship and distortion of news related to him and not
reflecting realities of his case, printing different sorts of accusations and
rumors in newspapers in order to ruin his personality, stalling religious
clerics on having a debate with him about “ Velayet-e Faqih” and political
religion ( of course the sort of coup which was done against of him and one
hundred percent of news boycott and being his plaintiffs just special court for
the clergy( SCC) and Intelligence Service which these proofs reveal the obvious
reality), confiscating the only house of Ayatollah Boroujerdi with all his
properties and making his family homeless are some various cases of torture and
bothering, getting illegal pledges, preparing social and occupational
deprivations for this case arrestees, including them to accept irrelevant
accusations such as spying, swindle…, deprivation of having doctor, drugging
narcotic substances and giving him suspecting and infected food which presently
some parts of his brain are in real danger and he suffers from Parkinson,
Diabetes, Asthma, heart and kidney problems, recently he can not keep his
physical balance. Because of many physical, mental and emotional tortures to
extract a confession from him and make him accept the compulsory accusations he
has come down many physical, mental and nervous problems. They do not attend to
the need of his treatment. During last fifteen years, Ayatollah has been
imprisoned for several times and also his independent activities and sessions
of teaching and praying closed by government with compulsory forces. The
problem of Iran
regime with this independent religious leader is never on individual, private,
related to security or political affairs but it is just ideological because
Ayatollah Boroujerdi has complained to Velayet-e Faqih and also involving
religion with policy publicly. In Iran
land he has many followers and even many liberal and intellectual men out of Iran with
different declarations supported his beliefs and opinions. Because of
terrifying and severe despotism in Iran and different sorts of difficulties for
people, there is no effective and useful campaign and motion in submission of
people’s demands, on the other hand there are different kinds of pressures and
suppressions which are done on the pretext of doing God’s order to show them in
a legitimate manner, therefore we request by carrying a resolution in Security
Council of UN from you to support religious and anti dictatorship leader of
Iran and also preparing his perfect and religious immunity that this
exceptional opportunity in ending up the religious dictatorship, which its
complications have been affected other countries, would not be lost. At the
end, we have an urgent appeal to be formed a juridical, medical and informative
committee for considering and prosecution disasters for this prominent cleric
(that mentioned just some of them) from related organizations.

Dear
Louise Arbour / UN High commissioner for Human Rights
With
Hello and Respect
We
attract your attention to very important affairs of Iran’s Human Rights. We heard you
have come to Iran
and have taken part in Non-Aligned Conference and were one of the speakers of
that convention. Before your traveling, we had sent many letters about the
problem of disrespect to human in Iran in different ways but
unfortunately you had not received them; otherwise, you spoke more effective
and appropriate in the convention. If you were aware of anti dictatorship
leader who is prisoner in Iran,
you would visit him and inquire about this independent and liberal leader’s
viewpoints. At first forming this convention was a new trick to hide violence,
cruelty and betrayal which they could make extinct in an easier way, Iran’s
oppressed peasant with different way of agonizing terrors, secondly to gain
more fame for not replying to international juridical committees and world’s
emotional centers and thirdly to form a new front line of the third world
countries against of effective and responsible international institutions to
pose Iran governmental unfounded and delusory mottos.
Dear
Arbour,
Best
reason to make extinct in Iran
is religious strangulation and suppression. The sin of anti dictatorship that
is in jail is supporting God. This regime does every thing that it wants and
oppresses with the fame of God and causes to dishonor divine religions. This
liberal, prisoner and independent leader wants freedom of beliefs and says that
it should not raid people’s life under the title of religiousness and piety.
They torture this server of nation and God’s servant in prison because of
disagreement with political religion and attacked his residential house with
shooting and poisonous gases and killed his mother and took captive his family
and made many of his followers under assault and battery. With shady and
immoral advertisements by governmental mass Media lampooned him and caused
unreal assertions in society. It is one year that all formal and defender
institutions of Human Rights know the details of his news but with great shame
did not do an effective and important action. They issued unjust and inhuman
sentences by forming informal and closed sessions of court to suffocate
dissatisfied and objector to despotism. Because Ayatollah Mr. Seyyed Hossein
Kazemeini Boroujerdi is a symbol of pure and divine worship that is under
attention of most of the nation of Iran. He wants freedom of beliefs and not
governmental Islam. By the name of conscience, justice and the universe God, we
request using all your facilities and existence from you to save and rescue
traditional and political religion. Please, at first, take the voice of this
cleric against of “ Velayat-e Faqih” to all liberal countries by international
mass Media and secondly express the matter of wildly attack and behavior toward
this anti censorship and suppression leader in Iran in Security Council of UN
and carry a resolution about religious freedom by his leadership and thirdly
prepare a multidirectional immunity for his freedom of action and speech that
he could help Iranian people, who are under cruelty and give them conceptual
and cultural power. At the end we request having an inspection and visit with
him from you that you could be directly aware of his humanitarian opinions.
Respectfully
yours

Statement of Ayatollah Boroujerdi’s Followers in Anniversary of
Proclamation of Universal Declaration of Human Rights On Human Rights Day we
congratulate to all truth seekers and liberals around the world.
"All
human beings are born with equal and inalienable rights and fundamental
freedoms".
Another year past and human who is involved in
oppression, in memorial of his lost rights and in anniversary of this day,
could meditate in world around him. The world which oppressors and tyrants,
have many struggles in order to found usual violation of human rights. In this
corner of the world, IRAN,
it is 15 months past from suppression and arrest of government incompatible
cleric, Ayatollah BOROUJERDI and his followers. In last 15 months, many statements and
resolutions were issued from human rights international associations and
organizations and Amnesty International about condemnation and decrying the
crimes and felonies of religious-oppressor government of Iran upon these
religious liberals. The results of these statements in Iran were
silence and inattention of oppressor Government and continuation of felonies,
illegal prosecution, arrest and torture of Ayatollah and his followers. But
there is much expectation for sympathy and cooperation from the people in out
of Iran.
Ayatollah Boroujerdi is a government incompatible cleric who has many struggles
for prevention of breach of human rights with the fame of God, religion and
moral worth in 14 years from 1992 to 2006. His first attempts were completely
peaceful and in order to inform different groups of Iranian oppressed nation.
There nation whom many decades are under oppression governing and their
fundamental and usual rights both individual and social are desecrated with
fame of religion, God, Prophets, Imams. The nation who had seduced and dragged
for revolution because of defense of reality more than 28 years ago. But they
have captured by oppressors who are using reality for progress in their greed
and ominous terrorism targets. Human Rights and moral worth have not any
definition and meaning in their viewpoint. In the stricken adversity social of
Iran terrorism, killing, pillage, corruption, suppression, arrest, torture and
destruction of moral and social worth is usual. Ayatollah Boroujerdi had
believed that combination of religion and politics which is resulted in
religious government and theocracy is the main root of many of this felonies
and society destruction. He had prosecuted on numerous occasions by religious
government because of informing Iranian nation usually with benediction and
religious ceremony. He arrested by special court of clergy which is a
governmental organization for prosecution of opposed clerics, and after torture
in prison was undertaken to cooperation with Government. But after every
conditional releasing, He started his liberality attempts again. In summer of
2006, he had risen against oppression government after abstain of referring to
special court of clergy, practically. Finally in October of 2006 after bloody
clashes between governmental police and Ayatollah followers who had gathered
outside his house, the Ayatollah boroujerdi, his family and more than 1000
persons of his followers had arrested and taken to Evin dreadful Prison. From that
time to now, he is in single section of Evin prison and is deprived of having
counsel and other legal and citizenship rights. At the end, with honoring of
Anniversary of Proclamation of Universal Declaration of Human Rights, we want
from all of human rights organizations and international centers for defense of
human rights and all of liberal people in worldwide, to disclosing and
condemnation and decrying the crimes of religious-oppressor government of Iran.

People in Worldwide in Celebration of Jesus Birthday Annuity
With
2008 best regards to Messiah Jesus, Great Gentleman who had not any weakness in
his global prophetic mission, the leader with individual birth and exceptional
life. He was manifestation of Spiritual and Heavenly Power in the earth. Indeed
Christian people celebrate the birth of a Prophet, a Peacemaker, a teacher, a
physician, a savior and a world gentleman who have taught spirituality to Human
generations and left out a holy and eternal inheritance in human history.
His
God has taken him to celestial locations for returning in last period of
humanity life, to establish an ideal and excellence society. Now, all of world
monotheists, can observe this Divine alive reason, and feel the Divine voice of
Jesus son of Mary, who said that: O! People! Wean from animal habit and return to
your forgotten identity, because God has created you as chief of earth
creatures, so don’t lose this merit and don’t enter to corrupted group.
Today,
the world society is needy for returning of that great savior to guide humanity
toward deliverance in their mundane and future life.
More
than 2000 years are past from birth of Prophet of peace and reality, Jesus, and
still we observe corruption, immorality and heresy in worldwide. For example,
in this corner of the world, Iran,
we are observing that the oppressors, who had tried to crucify Jesus about 2000
years ago, now are crucifying humanity. They, who had tried to annihilate
reality about 2000 years ago, today are using reality and religious values for
suppression of liberals and God seekers. They have established a government
with the fame of religion, which its target is to annihilate religion, piety
and obtained benefits of Jesus and other Prophet’s attempts, not only in Iran but in
worldwide.
Every
liberty seeking voice would be suppressed in this country and by combination of
religion and politics, a forged government with name of “Velayate Faghih:
Guardianship of Jurisconsult” is created which has endangered the security of Iran,
Middle East and world.
This
government of illogical violence and hypocrisy want to obtain advanced and
modern destructive armaments for annihilation of humanity and satisfying devil
and Jesus enemies. Yes! my sisters and brothers! In this corner of the world
death and annihilation is governing. Every morning devil announces his victory
news, proudly, and endangers god seekers and Jesus and other prophet’s followers.
Here winter of annihilation and corruption is surrounding.
I
celebrate to you the Birthday of Great Prophet, Jesus, from cold cell in
section 209 of Evin dreadful prison in Tehran,
which is location of torture and killing of liberals and reality seekers and
hope to victory of reality against evil and victory of Jesus against devil.

Ayatollah
Boroujerdi fainted on the seventh day of new tortures in the section of 209 and
was transferred to hospital. One of the responsible men from Evin prison
hospital in a contact with his closed persons said:
“Severe
impact signs on the body of Kazemeini Boroujerdi are specific and because of
severe frailty by hunger strike his physical condition has become more critical
as he is not able to walk and could not maintain his equilibrium.”
He
also said that because of compulsory limitations by Intelligence Service, there
is not any suitable consideration to Kazemeini Boroujerdi. This humanist doctor
requested urgent actions to presence of a medical committee from Human Rights
Watch and Red Cross of closed members to Ayatollah Boroujerdi to consider his
physical condition.
The
reason of these hostile behaviors has been mentioned his complaints to issued
unfair sentences in the court and inhuman behaviors toward his family and this
case accused men and also insisting on holding a debate with Velayat-e Faqih
leaders in Iran which so far there had not been any answers unless lash,
torture, rumor and falsity.

Boroujerdi, respectable head of Judiciary Branch of Islamic Republic of Iran,
Hello,
You have said that the courts of Islamic Republic of Iran
